Yoga Olympiad 2019 is being conducted by NCERT to encourage the positive and healthy lifestyle for the physical, the mental and emotional health of children of Indian Schools at National Level. The Yoga Olympiad will be conducted at the 3 levels initially and then the final National Level Olympiad will be conducted. Candidates from All government, government-aided schools are eligible to participate in the Yoga Olympiad. The various levels of the Olympiad are described below. The finalists selected at each level will be sent to the higher level for competing against the other similar level candidates.
The top three contenders from each of the levels will be given a Prize and a Certificate of Merit. However, The winner of the Yoga Olympiad 2019 at National Level will be given a Gold Plated Medal with a certificate.
The objective of starting the Yoga Olympiad 2019 is to develop an understanding of practices of yoga and applying the understandings in their life and to develop a healthy habit and lifestyle in children. Yoga helps in the development of strength, stamina, endurance and high energy at the physical level. Therefore, the Yoga Olympiad is being conducted to maintain peace and contentment at the mental level leading to inner and outer harmony. The Yoga Olympiad is the step to keep the students physically and mentally healthy which is initiated by the NCERT. The following practices of Yoga will be covered in the Olympiad
There are two stages for which the Yoga Olympiad will be held in. The Yoga Olympiad will be held in Upper Primary Stage and Secondary Stage for which the details are given below. The Yoga Olympiad will be conducted separately for Boys and Girls.

The invitation for the Yoga Olympiad will be drawn by the schools in which all the government and the government-aided schools are eligible to participate. However, the entries for the National Level Yoga Olympiad are to be sent to the NCERT by 18 May 2019.
Therefore, the candidates willing to participate in Yoga Olympiad need to contact their school authority. This is the responsibility of the school authorities to ensure that the students with special needs have active participation in Yoga Olympiad.

The selection of the participants will be done by the jury based on the assessment criteria. There will be a team of 3 judges having expertise in Asanas, Pranayama, Kriya, Bandh. The Jury members will be selected to assess the participants from the different institutions, Schools, Yoga institutes throughout the country.
The criteria for the selection of the participants will be the same for upper primary/ secondary. However, the postures of different states will be different as per the target group. The postures required by the different target groups are given in the table below.
