UIA HYP 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition

• Union International des Architects (UIA) is organizing UIA 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition based on the theme ‘Architecture in Transformation. The architecture design competition is open for students enrolled in full time on-campus studies in the field of architecture.
• The participants are required to design plans for 4 sites located in various parts of China .
• The Registration for the Architectural Design Competition is free and students up to Ph.D. level can participate in the competition.
• The winners of the UIA 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition will be awarded with prizes worth RMB 100,000 (Approx. Rs.10,00,000) along with certificates.
• The important dates related to the challenge are as follow:

UIA 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition Rewards

Out of all the entries received for the Competition, total 12 winners will be selected and 20 teams will be honorable mentions. The details of the prize are as follow:

• First Prize: First prize will be given to a single team and the winner will get RMB 100,000 (Approx. Rs.10,00,000) along with a certificate.
• Second Prize: Three Teams will be awarded with Second Prize and the winner will receive RMB 30,000 (Approx. Rs.3,00,000) and a certificate.
• Third Prize: Third prize will be awarded to 8 teams and the winners will get RMB 10,000 (Approx. Rs.1,00,000) along with certificates.
• Honorable mentions: 20 teams will get honorable mentions and will get certificate along with 6 months free subscription of UED Magazine.
• Prize for Advisors: The Advisors of the winning teams will also be awarded with certificate.
• Internship opportunity: By the means of “Learning Design with Master Architecture” program the prize winners will have an opportunity to intern with a prestigious Architectural firm.

UIA 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition Application Process

The application process for the competition is completely online and the registration is to be completed by the Team Leader. The Team leader will be contacted by concerned authorities if required. The details of the application process are as follow:

• Registration: The Teams are required to be registered for the competition. After registration is complete each team will get a registration number.

• Details of the Competition:
  • Theme: The competition is based on the theme “Architecture in Transformation” and is addressing the topic “Transformation: Place, Tradition and Modernism in Conceptual Unity and Diversity.”
  • Details of the Design: The participants are required to design plans for 4 sites located in various parts of China. 

Submission of the Entries

• The entries need to be submitted electronically and there is no need to submit drawn designs.
• The entries need to be mailed to ‘uedcompetition@163.com’ with subject “competition” in order to complete the submission.
• The entries received will be printed and exhibited by the organizers in due time.

UIA 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition Selection Process

• The decision regarding the winning entry will be taken by the Jury consisting of some well-known names of the Industry.
• The Judging for the UIA 2015 Student Architectural Design Competition will be carried out by the jury under the chairmanship of Meinhard von Gerkan, Founding partner of von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp).
• Result: The result of the competition will be declared in the month of September.
