PM Scholarship 2018 for RPF is introduced to encourage higher technical as well as professional education for the dependent wards of Ex/Serving RPF/RPSF personnel and widows. PM Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for Railway Protection Force (RPF) was started from the Academic year 2008-09 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in his address to the nation on 15 August 2005 at the Red Fort. A total number of 150 students have been earmarked to RPF for an academic session. Half of the scholarships are reserved for the female candidates, i.e. 75.
Professional Degree Courses like BE, B. Tech, BDS, MBBS, B. Ed., BBS, BCA, MCA, B. Pharma., etc. are the courses which are eligible for the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme. These courses are duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), MCI (Medical Council of India), UGC (University Grants Commission), NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) etc. The candidates also have to note that Master Degree courses are not eligible under the PM Scholarship Scheme for RPF.

Students should have secured minimum 60% marks and above in MEQ (Minimum Educational Qualification) i.e. Class 12, Diploma/ Degree. The scholarship is admissible for only two wards per family and should be ensured by the beneficiaries as well as by the concerned zonal railways/ RPSF. |
PM Scholarship payment will be granted after the approval of the DG/ RPF as per order of merit in each year. A Letter From Hon’ble Prime Minister - All the selected candidates under new category will be given a personal letter from the Hon’ble Prime Minister in an appropriate language.
The Reward of PM scholarship for RPF would be as follows:

All the eligible candidates need to apply online on the website www.scholarship.gov.in by 30 September 2018. The final compiled list of eligible candidates will be prepared by the Security Directorate, Railway Board by 20 October for further submission to PMO.
A valid mobile number is mandatory to register on the National Scholarships Portal on which OTP (One Time Password) will be received by the candidates for further process. A maximum of two registrations can be made with a mobile number.

The renewal of PM scholarship scheme for RPF can be done by the candidates on the National Scholarship Portal by providing their application ID generated at the time of registration. The documents may be uploaded by the candidates which including a certificate from the College/ Institute indicating the percentage of marks/ grade points secured as well as indicating that the student is pursuing the course.
If the number of applications exceeds the number of available scholarships, then the order of preference for allotment of the scholarship will be as under:
Category (1): Wards/widows of ex-RPF/ RPSF personnel who died in harness due to causes attributed to encounter with terrorist or with criminals while protecting Railway Property, Passengers and Passenger Area or those who die during election work.
Category (2): Wards/Widows of ex-RPF/ RPSF personnel who died while in service.
Category (3): Wards of ex-RPF/ RPSF (retired) personnel.
Category (4): Wards of serving RPF/ RPSF personnel.
At least 60% marks in MEQ to get entry in various Professional Courses for the initial sanction of the PM scholarship.
