Oxford Indira Gandhi Graduate Scholarship is offered to the meritorious candidates ordinarily resident in India or graduates of universities in India.
The applicants who have been consistently brilliant and who have been accepted to study at the University of Oxford in areas broadly related to sustainable development can apply for the scholarship.The individuals who are chosen as the scholar are expected to emerge as a leader and hence it is important that they should understand their area of research thoroughly.
It is a fully funded scholarship program and the candidate need to first apply to the relevant graduate course by mid- November/ January.
Somerville College and the University of Oxford have established the Oxford Indira Gandhi Graduate Scholarships with the generous support of the Government of India.

Applications for Indira Gandhi DPhil scholarships are invited from candidates whose proposed area of study is relevant to the Indira Gandhi Centre’s (IGC) agenda of inter-disciplinary research on sustainable development and India.
Selected in University of Oxford
Students who have been accepted to study at the University of Oxford in areas broadly related to sustainable development.
Resident of India The applicant is required to be ordinarily resident in India and must have a plan to return back to India on the completion of the course.
The Scholarship is only applicable for Somerville College in the University of Oxford.
Not eligible
This scholarship is not open to applications from candidates who hold deferred offers to start in 2017-18.
Oxford Indira Gandhi Graduate Scholarship Reward
100% amount is waived off on University and college fees. Concession of at least £13,863 is also provided on living expenses.

Auto Renewal Process: If the scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of the scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based upon satisfactory academic progress.

All eligible applicants, who have applied for admission to the University by the relevant January deadline for their course. The students have to apply online for the scholarship.

Deadline to apply for the scholarship
January 6, or January 20, 2017, for Medical Sciences, Philosophy, Politics & International Relations and Computer Science.
March 10, 2017, for all other subjects.
If the applicants fail to register by the deadline, they not be considered for this scholarship and applications will be rejected.

As per the course selected, the candidates are also required to attach one or more of the following materials with the application form:

Skype Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a Skype interview
Submit a Short Statement: Eligible applicants who receive an offer of a place will be contacted in April 2017 and asked to submit a short ORGINAL statement detailing how they meet the selection criteria for this scholarship.
Decisions are expected to be made around May 2017.
Successful candidates will be notified via email and will receive an award letter.
