NMMS 2019 - National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scholarship scheme which is being offered to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to continue the study at the secondary stage to arrest the dropout rate after Class 8. The selected students are awarded Rs. 12,000 per annum (Rs.1000 per month) to study from Class 9 to Class 12 in Government, Government aided and local body schools. Under NMMS total Scholarships awarded are 100,000 and there is a quota of scholarships for different states/UTs. There is reservation as per State Government norms. National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is given to the student on the basis of the exam. Each State/UTs will conduct their own NMMS 2019 test for selection of aspirants. NMMS exam includes two tests: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholarship Ability Test (SAT). Each test of NMMS 2019 scholarship test will contain 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and only 180 minutes will be allotted to complete both tests.
NMMS scholarship is given so that students can continue with their studies and they do not leave studies just because of lack of money. The objective of the scholarship is also to bring down the dropout rate of school after class 8. Education is the fundamental right of all the children and this scholarship rightly help those students whose parents are unable to afford the education of their children.
Until last year the students of Class 9-12 were given the scholarship of Rs. 500 per month but this year the students will be given the scholarship of Rs. 1000 per month. Total 1 Lac scholarships will be distributed to students across India.
State-wise NMMS Scholarship Application Form is given below and students can download them or apply online as the case may be. Scholarships are disbursed by the State Bank of India directly into the accounts of students on a quarterly basis. The Scholarship is paid for a maximum period of four years.

NMMS scholarship has to be renewed every year and only candidates who fulfil the renewal eligibility conditions will be eligible for the scholarship.

Students can fill NMMS application form 2019 from the link provided on this page. The application form for NMMS 2019 has been started from 23 July. Candidates are advised to register for NMMS 2019 scholarship test as per the last date for their state or UT.
NMMS application form 2019 has been released by different state/UT authorities. After carefully filling NMMS application form 2019, candidates need to send the triplicate on an A4 size paper. The completed NMMSS 2019 application form must be duly signed by the Principal of the School and after that, it should be submitted to the State Liaison Officer before the last date.

Each State/UT will conduct their own test for selection of students but it is mandatory for students to pass both the tests i.e. MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in each.
