Kothari Fellowship - DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship (DSKPDF)

Dr. DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship (DSKPDF) scheme is announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in the year 2007. DSKPDF Scheme is open for full-time research work for young researchers who have their PhD degree under science faculty. The Dr. DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship scheme also can provide an opportunity to many fresh PhD degree holders to overcome the deficiencies in training at the doctoral level research and to explore new areas of research in better settings in the Indian University Sector.

About Fellowships

• These fellowships are open to candidates who have obtained Ph.D. degree in appropriate subjects (Sciences including Engineering and Medicine) and meant for full-time research work.
• The Dr. DS Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship will be awarded on a yearly basis with renewal/termination clause on the basis of PDF mentor/peer group appraisal.
• The maximum duration of this Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) would be 3 years. 

Candidates will also get contingency grant of Rs. 1,00,000  Per Annum

Steps to fill the DSKPDF Application Form

STEP 1: Registration: Candidates have to fill the registration form to get their Login ID & Password for submitting the actual application form.

STEP 2: Verification: After verification of the information at DSKPDF Cell, the candidate will receive a mail containing a Login ID and Password at the E-mail address provided by the candidate within 7 working days of your request

STEP 3: Application Form: The candidate has to fill the application form by using the provided Login ID and Password within 10 days.

STEP 4: Upload: Candidates have to upload the required document in the application form limiting to 100kb size individually.

STEP 5: Confirmation: All the valid applications will receive a system-generated acknowledgement from Dr. D. S. Kothari Fellowship Cell. A unique Application No. (ID) will be assigned to each application; candidates must note this number for further reference. Candidates are also required to take the printout of filled application form further process.

Submission of Application Form

Candidates have to take the printout of the filled application form that will be provided at the end of Application filling procedure. The filled application form has to be sent at DSKPDF cell along with the required documents at the following address:

Documents are required to submit along with the Kothari Fellowship Application Form

• Summary of PhD Work, in the prescribed format. Same as uploaded online
• Concept proposal for the postdoctoral research, in the prescribed format. Same as uploaded online
• A brief Mentor CV, in the prescribed format. Same as uploaded online
• Copy of your Graduation and Post-graduation certificate
• Copy of your S.S.C. (10th Class Certificate)/Age Proof Certificate
• PhD Degree Certificate or Certificate by the PhD guide/Registrar of University/Institute
• Original Certificate of Mentor on proper letterhead specifying that he/she is willing to guide you for your Postdoc Research work, in prescribed format
• NET/SET Certificate if applicable
• Reserved Category/Physically Handicapped Certificate if applicable

Candidates have to submit a joining report (in the prescribed format) forwarded through the Mentor, Head of the Department and Registrar of the University to the UGC, after downloading the Award Letter from UGC website. The soft copies of duly signed Award Letter and joining report must be uploaded through online mode on the DSKPDF website by using the link: https://ugcdskpdf.unipune.ac.in/StatusReports/

Important Instructions related to Kothari Fellowship (DSKPDF)

• Candidates from science department of Indian Universities and UGC funded inter-University centres such as IUCAA, IUAC, UGC-DAE-CSR are eligible for DSKPDF. Such candidates are eligible to receive Development grants from the UGC.
• Candidates can take leave for a maximum period of 30 days in a year in addition to public holidays may be availed of by the Postdoctoral Fellow with the approval of the mentor and Head of the Department. 
• Awarded candidates for the fellowship are expected to join within 6 months from the date of award letter. No more extension is allowed.
  
• Those candidates who have not joined the workplace after receiving the Award Letter of DSKPDF are eligible to re-apply.
• Candidates also may apply freshly for DSKPDF with new research proposal only after a one year from date of deceleration of earlier result.
