Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2019-20 will be based on the scores of a written entrance exam known as JNVST Exam. Jawaharlal Navodya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is conducted by Navodya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), which was established to promote education among the deprived sections of the society and to provide excellent educational opportunities to students of rural areas. Students have to qualify the JNVST exam to take admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission Form was available from July 2019. Students seeking Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya admission can apply before the due date. The last date to apply for Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission is 30 September 2019. Students will have to appear for entrance exam known as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test which is conducted in February for Summer bound JNVs, in April for Winter Bound JNVs and in June for Extreme Winter Bound JNVs. Last year, JNVST was conducted on 21 April for all JNVs (summer, winter, and extreme winter bound).

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya was started by Government of India in accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986), and today Navodaya school is spread in 28 states and 7 union territories.

Educational Qualification
Students who wish to take Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission can apply and fill the Navodaya Vidyalaya application form 2019. The candidates may approach the common service centre along with the duly filled in certificates. The format of a certificate is attached towards the end of this page. The candidates/ parents need to download the certificate and duly filled it mentioning the correct information.
After filling up the certificate, they need to visit the Common Service Centre along with the duly filled in the certificate from the Headmaster of the school where the students were studying in Class 5. The Common Service Centre charges Rs 35 per candidate to be paid by the parent/ candidate towards the service charge to fill the Navodaya Vidyalaya Application Form on behalf of candidates.
Students who are applying for Navodaya Vidyalaya admission and appearing for JNVST test can download the admit card for JNVST exam here. The Navodaya Vidyalaya Admit Card admit card 2019 can be downloaded from the offices of Common Service Centres. Each candidate shall appear for the selection test at the examination centre allotted to him/her as indicated on NVS Admit Card 2019.
No request for change of test centre will be entertained, and student cannot appear for Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test without admit card. The link to download the admit card will be available on this page when released.

The selection test will be of two-hour duration and will have three sections with only objective type questions. There are 100 questions in all of 100 marks. Each question carries one mark.
Medium of Examination: The exam will be conducted in 21 languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, English, Garo, Gujarati,Hindi, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Oriya, Punjabi, Sindhi (Arabic), Sindhi (Devnagri), Tamil, Telegu, Urdu and Nepali.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Result 2019 for JNVST exam for Class 6 will be declared in the 1st week of April/May 2019 for Summer Bound, last week of May 2019 for Winter Bound & 1st week of July 2019 for Extreme Winter Bound JNVs of the year of admission. The parents of the children who qualify the JNV Selection Test for Navodya Vidyalaya Admission will have to submit following documents at the time of admission:
Students from rural areas: Candidates selected from rural areas fill at least 75% of the seats in a district, and remaining seats are filled from urban areas of the district.
SC/ ST: Reservation of seats in favour of children belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is provided in proportion to their population in the concerned district.
Reservation will be less than the national average (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST) but subject to the maximum of 50% for both the categories (SC & ST) taken together. These reservations are interchangeable and over and above the candidates selected under open merit.
Girls: One-third of the total seats are filled up by girls
Disabled Children: There is a provision for reservation of 3% seats for ** disabled children (i.e. Orthopedically Handicapped, Hearing Impaired and Visually Handicapped).
A Candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of session in Class 3, 4 and 5 will be considered as an urban candidate. Urban areas are those who are so defined in 2011 census or through a subsequent Government Notification.

At present, there are 661 Vidyalayas are sanctioned in 28 States and 7 Union Territories. Out of which 626 are functioning. According to the scheme, there should be one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in each District. The State-wise distribution of JNVs is given below.
