J C Bose National Fellowship 2017 is for active Scientist and Engineering for their outstanding performance and contributions. J C Bose fellowship is scientist-specific and very selective. The Application for J C Bose National Fellowship is open throughout the year. J C Bose Fellowship is organised by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB).
Duration of Fellowship: The Duration of the fellowship will initially be for 5 years. However, based on the performance of the fellow the tenure of the fellowship can be extended for another 5 years.
The Grant for the subsequent years is released only after receiving financially year wise Statement of Expenditure (SE) and Utilization Certificate (UC) in the prescribed format. Financial year wise SE and UC are from April 1 to March 31. And for the first year, it would be from the Date of Start (DOS) to March 31 and subsequently from April 1 to March 31.

The JC Bose National Fellows would be eligible for regular research grants through the extramural funding schemes of various S&T agencies of the Government of India.
In addition to the regular income, J. C Bose Fellows will get Rs. 25,000 (per month) and a contingency amount for conferences and other expenses:

J C Bose Fellowship Nomination Form can be filled by the eligible candidates through a prescribed format and the approach any scientific institutions and universities in the country to host the J C Bose Fellowship. The application should be forwarded to the Head of the Host Institute.
The candidates for Ramanujan Fellowship will be nominated by the Host Institution. Individual scientists and engineers can also approach the institutions for forwarding their nominations to SERB for the Fellowship. The Host Institute must fill the nomination form by writing the name of the candidates. The Nomination Form is available throughout the year on the official website of www.serb.gov.in.
All the nomination in original form and 4 photocopies, duly filled and signed by the Head of the Host Institution need to be sent to the following address:

JC Bose Fellows selections will be made periodically by an empowered Search-cum-Selection Committee specially appointed for the purpose. The Institution in which the candidate is working would provide the necessary R&D, administrative and basic infrastructural support for research. The candidate will continue to work at the place of his employment.
As soon as the SERB will receive the Acceptance letter the process for administrative and financial approval will begin followed by the Sanction OrderThe Ramanujan Fellow can start his/her Fellowship as soon as the Institute get the Grant Money.
