Inspire Scholarship 2020: The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has started an innovative programme namely Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) in November 2008. INSPIRE has three components - Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents (SEATS), Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunities for Research Careers (AORC). Of these, Inspire Scholarship 2020-21 for Higher Education (SHE) aims to enhance rates of talented youth to undertake higher education in science by providing scholarship and mentorship. Inspire SHE 2020-21 offers 10,000 scholarship every year at Rs. 0.80 lakh to candidates from age 17-22 years, for pursuing Bachelors and Masters level education in Basic and Natural Science. The main feature of the Inspire Award Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) is the support mentorship provided to every scholar. There is no exam conducted for the scholarship and it is disbursed based on the eligibility criteria. The application form of Inspire Scholarship 2020-21 is available from 1 November 2020. Only the eligible aspirants can apply for Inspire Scholarship 2020 by using the link which is provided on this page. Inspire Scholarship result 2020-21 will be announced in May 2021. Through Inspire Scholarship Higher Education 2020-21 is valued Rs. 80,000 per annum. The selected candidate will receive a scholarship of Rs. 5,000 per month, which in total will be Rs. 60,000 in a year.
All the scholars of Inspire Award Scholarship are required to undertake a summer research project under an active researcher in any recognized research centres in India. A summer attachment fee of Rs. 20,000 will be paid as the mentorship every year. The scholars have to submit the project report and certificate from a mentor after the completion of the project within the due course of time.

Candidates willing to apply for Inspire Scholarship 2020-21 must go through the eligibility criteria below in order to check whether they are eligible or not.
Students who are among the top 1% in class 12 at their respective board examinations and are pursuing courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at the BSc or Integrated MSc levels. Courses other than Natural and Basic sciences are not allowed for the current scheme.
Passed Class 12: Students should have passed class 12 in 2020 from any recognised state or central board in India.
Pursuing UG: Student must be pursuing three years B.Sc., B.Sc (Hons), four years B.S or five years integrated M.Sc./M.S programs in any UGC recognised College/ University/ Institutions in India in natural/basic sciences
Top 1% in Board Exams
Students who happen to be among the top 1% in Class 12 at their respective Board Examinations and are pursuing courses in Natural and Basic Sciences at the B.Sc. or Integrated M.Sc. levels. (Cutoffs are given toward the end of the page)
OR
Top 10,000 in National Competitive Exams
Students who have secured in the Joint Entrance Examination of the following exams and have also opted to study Natural and Basic sciences in any academic institute or university leading to graduate and post-graduate degree.

The scholarship is also open to all KVPY, NTSE, JBNSTS scholars and Science Olympiad Medalists, opting to undertake courses in the Natural & Basic sciences leading to B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees.

Each Inspire awardee to get Rs. 80,000 per annum for a maximum period of 5 years and is given in the following ways:
The selected scholars will be supported with this scholarship for a maximum of five years, starting from 1st year of BSc, BS, Int. MSc/Int. MS, or until the completion of the course, whichever is earlier. However, students have to perform well in the examination conducted by the University for the continuation of the scholarship.
The Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) aims at attracting talented individuals and provides them with scholarship and mentoring if they pursue Bachelor and Masters level education in Natural and Basic Sciences. The talented students in the age group 17-22 years will be given 10,000 scholarships every year of Rs 80,000 per year provided they pursue the required course and fulfil the set criteria.

The filled in application form of Inspire Scholarship 2020 must be submitted in online mode only. Candidates are not required to send the duly filled Inspire SHE 2020 application form or any document through the post. Before final submission of Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education application form, candidates verify the details carefully, as the modification will not be done after that.
Department of Science and Technology (DST) will start the selection procedure of Inspire Scholarship 2020 at least four months after the last date of application submission. The selected candidates will receive a provisional offer letter on the web portal informing that they have been selected for Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education 2020-21. Along with that, DST will also release the list of selected and rejected students, which will be available on this page when published. In the year 2017, a total of 12, 246 students were selected for the Inspire SHE Scholarship. Candidates will have to upload the required documents on the web portal within the stipulated period for further consideration.

Question: How should I apply for Inspire Scholarship 2020-21?
Answer: A candidate can fill Inspire Scholarship application form 2020-21 in the online mode from 1st November 2020. The link is available on this page to apply for Inspire SHE 2020.
Question: How the Inspire Scholarship 2020-21 will be done if the applications received are more than 12,000?
Answer: Under the scheme of Inspire Scholarship of Higher Education (SHE), 12,000 scholarships, each valued Rs. 80,000 are announced annually for students pursuing Bachelors and Masters in Natural and Basic Sciences.
However, in the case of receiving more than 12,000 eligible applications in a particular year, the selection will be done based on Board inclusive model within the available number of scholarships in that year.
Question: How will I receive my Inspire Scholarship 2020?
Answer: Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) 2020-21 will be transferred to the scholar’s State Bank of India (SBI) account directly through DBT.
Question: How should I send my bank account details to DST?
Answer: The scholars must open a regular Normal Savings Bank Account in any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) to receive the amount of Inspire Scholarship. The account should be in your name only and no joint accounts will be allowed. Also, an account other than SBI will not be accepted. Link the bank account with the Aadhaar Card. Do not forget to sign these documents. Non-attested documents will not be accepted. Then, candidates must upload the first page of SBI bank passbook to scholar’s DST web portal.
