ICMR JRF 2019 is Junior Fellowship Programme conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for selecting the deserving candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) program in the field of Life science and Social Science. The entrance examination is the first step for admission into the Ph. D/ Research Programme through the council's support. The students who are Post-graduate in life science or social science subject with minimum 55% (50% for SC/ST/PH students) are eligible to apply. The candidates will be selected for ICMR JRF 2019 Fellowships will be granted on the basis of the exam conducted by ICMR and PGIMER at National Level.
A total of 150 Fellowships would be awarded to the selected who qualify in the entrance examination, 120 in the field of biomedical science and 30 in the field of social science. Another 100 selected candidates will be considered for various JRF positions under research schemes of ICMR. The eligible candidates can fill the application form through online mode.

Academic EligibilityThe candidates who have Post Graduate Degree (MA/ MSc) in Basic Life Sciences subject such as microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, human biology, genetics, human nutrition, biotechnology, biochemistry, biophysics, immunology, pharmacology, zoology, environmental sciences, botany, veterinary science and bio-informatics or Social Sciences subjects like psychology, sociology, anthropology, home sciences, statistics, social work and health economics are eligible to apply for ICMR JRF The candidates must have secured minimum 55% marks (50% for the SC/ST & physically handicapped). The candidates who will qualify in the written examination will be selected for the ICMR JRF Fellowship award. The total duration of the JRF fellowship will initially be limited to 2 years.
A total of 150 fellowships will be awarded.
120 Fellowships will be given for Biomedical Sciences with emphasis on Life Sciences (like microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, genetics, human biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, immunology, pharmacology, nursing, zoology, botany, environmental sciences and veterinary Medicine (excluding Agriculture extension/ Soil Sciences, etc)
30 fellowships will be given for Social Sciences like psychology, sociology, home science, statistics anthropology, social work, public health/health economics (agriculture economics will not be considered).
The candidates selected for the fellowship will be provided with a monthly stipend and contingency grant as per the details are given below

After completion of 2 years as a JRF, the fellowship may be changed into SRF on the basis of an assessment of the candidate's research progress/achievements. The candidates selected for SRF will be given Rs 35,000 per month as stipend amount.
The candidates want to appear in the ICMR JRF Examination 2019 will have to apply on the official website of PGIMER at www.pgimer.edu.in or ICMR New Delhi website icmr.nic.in. Before filling the online application form, the candidates should have a valid personal email ID, scanned copy of photograph & signature, scanned copy of category certificate (if applicable) and Appearing Certificate from Head of the Institution. The candidates can submit the online application form by following the guideline given below:

The eligible candidates can fill the ICMR JRF 2019 application form only through online mode on the official website of PGIMER at www.pgimer.edu.in or ICMR New Delhi website icmr.nic.in. After submitting the application form and making payment of the application fee, the candidates have to take 2 printouts of the Online Application Form by logging in with login id and password. The candidates have to Affix the similar passport size photograph (which was uploaded during filling the online form) on it and keep it safe for the future references. The candidates do not have to send the application print out to the examination conducting body.
After the ICMR JRF Result is declared, the candidates have to send the hard copy of the application to ICMR New Delhi.

The candidates, who have successfully submitted the online application form, can download the ICMR JRF 2019 Admit Card online on the official websites. To download your Admit Card, the candidates have to click the same link ‘ICMR-JRF Exam 2019. Now the candidates have to click on Login button to login with your login id and password. Now the candidates can take a printout of it. The candidates will be allowed to enter the examination hall only with the ICMR JRF 2019 Admit Card.
Last date for the change in exam centres is 10 June 2019 but it will only be done for genuine cases.

The candidates who are going to appear in the written test 2019 will be selected for ICMR JRF 2019 fellowship on the basis aggregate of 55 % marks secured in both sections (Aptitude test and Life Sciences or Social Sciences). The candidates who belong to SC, ST and PH category will be selected the aggregate of 50 % marks in both sections.
The candidates who have filled the online application form and going to appear in the entrance examination which is scheduled to be held in July 2019 will have to follow the exam pattern as given below:
The successful candidates would be notified by post and e-mail during the first week of September 2019. The list would also be available on the ICMR website: http//icmr.nic.in and 150 candidates would be selected. Two separate ICMR JRF merit lists, one comprising the candidates qualifying for life sciences and the second for those candidates qualifying for social sciences, will be made on the basis of their performance in the above test. The candidates selected for the JRF programme of ICMR would be permitted to enrol themselves for the PhD programme in subjects of biomedical/health research of any University/Medical college recognized by the UGC/MCI.
Another 100 candidates would be selected for consideration for positions of JRF under various research schemes of ICMR (subject to fulfilling the conditions for appointment under the schemes) for the duration of that scheme. These JRFs would also be permitted to complete a PhD while working in the scheme if enrolled. The validity of the result will be two years for placement in ICMR funded projects
The answer keys for the ICMR-JRF examination will be uploaded on ICMR-JRF website after 3 days of the exam. The answer key will contain the right answers to the questions. The candidates can cross check their answers with the ICMR JRF answer key and calculate their probable score well before the declaration of the final result.
Challenge ICMR JRF Answer Key: If the candidate finds any discrepancies/doubts regarding the answers in the examination, then he/she can communicate the same with Professor In-charge (Examination Cell) through e-mail: shivamanru@gmail.com within 48 hours after uploading the answer keys. The revised key after considering the representation will be announced on the ICMR website in the due course of time.
