• The aim of the Essay Writing Competition 2015 is to create a meaningful dialogue on social justice agenda through active participation of intellectuals.

Annual Essay Writing Competition, 2015 Application Process

• Specifications of the Essay
• Length: 2500-3500 words excluding footnotes
• The essay must be sent as a word document (.doc or .docx)
• Format: PDF format.

Rules of Formatting

Main text:

• Page Margins: 1.5 inch on left side margin and 1 inch on all other sides Body of Essay
• Font Type: Garamond
• Font Size: 12 pts
• Line spacing: 1.5 spacing with ‘0 pts.’ before and ‘12 points’ after
• Alignment: Justified

Footnotes:

• Font Type: Garamond
• Font Size: 10 pts
• Line spacing: Single spacing with ‘0 pts.’ before and after.
• Alignment: Justified
• Style: The Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) 16th Edition Citation style must be followed. Citations can be in the form of footnotes or endnotes.

Submission

• A soft copy of the essay must be submitted ccalessay@gnlu.ac.in on or before October 31, 2015.
• Subject Line: The email should carry subject as “Submission CCAL-GNLU Essay Competition-2015”.

Annual Essay Writing Competition, 2015 Selection Process

• Each essay shall be scored against maximum marks of 100.
• The essay shall be judged based on the following criteria

• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks shall be deducted for each violation of the aforementioned formatting rules.
• The submissions shall be subjected to an initial screening by the screening committee constituted by the CCAL.
• The authors of the short-listed submissions shall be intimated accordingly.
• The results are expected to be announced in the First Week of January 2016
