About Aga Khan Scholarship
Aga Khan Scholarship or International Scholarship Programme (ISP) is provided by Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and provides a limited number of scholarships per year to outstanding students who cannot fund their own education for pursuing full-time postgraduate studies. Scroll down to get the complete information regarding Aga Khan Scholarship Program.
- The Scholarship is also offered for PhD programmes if the student is exceptionally talented and requires a PhD for fulfilling his/her career objectives. The candidate must also be recommended by his/her professors for carrying out doctoral studies.
- The scholarship will be in the form of 50% grant and 50% loan to students belonging to the selected developing countries which are India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Egypt, Syria, Kenya, Uganda, Madagascar, Tanzania and Mozambique.
- For PhD candidates, the funding will be provided only for the first two years of the study.
- The Scholarship is provided to the candidates to help them develop into effective leaders and scholars and to provide employment to them within the AKDN network.

Aga Khan Scholarships 2020 in India
- The application process for Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship is open until 13 March 2020 (7:00 pm IST) and the form should be submitted before 20 March 2020.
- The Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship 2020 Application Form can be obtained from the AKF office/ AKF Education Service Board.
- The final list of winners will be declared by June/July 2020.

In France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, applications are accepted from those who are originally from one of the above-developing countries

Students who are eligible nationals from the above-mentioned countries can apply for the scholarship
- Students who cannot finance their own education will be eligible for the scholarship.
- Age Limit: Preference is given to candidates below 30 years of age.
- Work Experience: Applicants are expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.
- Applications for short-term courses are not considered
The scholarship is not applicable for study in the following countries
For the 2020-21application cycle, the Foundation will not accept applications from students planning to attend universities in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, The Netherlands, Italy, Norway and Ireland
Not eligible for the Aga Khan Scholarship 2020
- Applications for short-term courses are not considered.
- Students who have already started their course of study will not be considered for the scholarship.

Aga Khan Scholarship Reward
Terms of Scholarship: Aga Khan Scholarship would be given as follows:
- 50% in the form of a Grant
- 50% in the form of a Loan
Candidates who are selected for the Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship would be given a grant for the following:
- Tuition fee: The complete tuition fee for the Master’s programme is covered by the scholarship.
- Living Expenses: The students will also receive the living and accommodation expenses under the AKF scholarship.
Travel Expenses will not be covered under this scholarship
The students will have to bear the expenses required for travelling to the institution and back to the home country. This amount will NOT be reimbursed by the foundation.
Conditions for Disbursal of the Loan
- Annual Service Charge: Half of the scholarship is granted as a loan. Candidates are required to repay the same at an annual service charge of 5%.
- Guarantor: A guarantor is required to act as co-signer to the loan agreement.
- Payback period: Students have to repay the loan within 5 years beginning after 6 months of completion of the study period.

Students applying for Aga Khan Scholarship 2020 will have to obtain the application forms from the AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards present in their respective countries.

Form Submission
The completely filled in Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship application forms are to be submitted to the office from which the candidate has obtained the form. The complete address is given above. The application form is NOT to be sent to Geneva.
Aga Khan Scholarship Selection Process
Selection Criteria: The scholars for the Aga Khan Scholarship will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
- Consistently outstanding academic record.
- genuine financial need
- Admission into a prestigious university for full-time postgraduate study.
- Importance of the field of study in question in relation to the focus areas of Aga Khan Development Network.
- Priority will also be given to students who hold some work experience in their fields of interest.
Note: The candidates should opt for this only if he/she is unable to find any other source of funding for the education. But preference is given to those candidates who have obtained partial funding from other sources.
Interview Round: Candidates who are shortlisted after submitting the application forms will have to appear for an interview round held by local Scholarship Committees. The interview will be based on the following topics:
- The academic performance of the candidates.
- Their financial situation.
- Achievements in extra-curricular activities.
- Career Plans
Aga Khan Scholarship 2020 Result
Aga Khan Scholarship Result 2020 or the list of shortlisted candidates will be sent to Geneva for the final selection process at the Annual Scholarship Selection Meeting to be held in late June or early July 2020.
