Sports Scholarship of 5 Lakh PA under Khelo India Scheme 2017. Revamped Version of Khelo India is announced by Sports Minister after Union Cabinet Meeting. The centre has approved a new pan India sports scholarship programme to cover 1000 most talented young athletes. There was a meeting of Union Cabinet held on 20 September 2017 in which the Union Cabinet has approved the revamped Khelo India programme at a cost of Rs. 1,756 crore for the period 2017-18 to 2019-20.
- The Scheme is expected to play a key role in overall development of sports in India. The selected athletes under this scheme will get the scholarship of Rs.5,00,000 for 8 consecutive years.
- The scheme will include the use of the National Sports Talent Search portal for talent identification; an interactive website for indigenous sports and a Games Information System for locating and using infrastructure.
- The revamped Khelo India programme aims at mainstreaming sports as a tool for individual, community, economic and national development.
Additionally, it will also promote 20 universities across the country as hubs of sporting excellence which will encourage the sportsperson to carry on the both, the education and competitive sports.

Distribution of Schemes under Khelo India Scheme 2017
The total estimated cost of the Khelo India sports scholarship scheme is Rs.500 crores. The distribution of the scheme would be done as given below:
