JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted online. The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to conduct the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) completely online from the next academic year 2018. In a meeting held at Indian Institute of Technology Madras, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) has taken the decision to make logistics and evaluations easier. Now IIT Entrance exam result can be declared faster.
"It has been decided that JEE Advanced will be conducted in online mode from 2018 onwards. Further information regarding the examination will be provided by the JAB in due course" In a statement related to the decision, the chairman of JAB, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi said.

Currently, the IIT exam is being conducted using Optical Mark Reading (OMR) sheets and the candidates fill it using pen or pencil and the OMR sheets are evaluated by the machines. In the Online mode of examination, the candidates are required to appear in the designated examination centre and take the examination complete online using computer instead of using the pen. Earlier, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) introduced the option of taking the exam online in Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main).
JEE (Advanced) is conducted for admission to bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree Programs in 18 IITs and ISM Dhanbad and the candidates who qualified in JEE (Main) are only selected to take JEE (Advanced). This year over 13 lakh students appeared in JEE Main exam and less than 10% of the students going online. The concept was already being discussed over the last few years but it was really very necessary to have adequate infrastructure to conduct the IIT exam online.
