Recently Times Higher Education (THE) published rankings for Asia University known as Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2014. 10 universities of India have been ranked among the top 100 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2014. However in 2013, only 3 universities of India could manage to rank among top 100 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings. The data for Asia Ranking 2014 was collected and analysed by Thomson Reuters and the ranking were based on the following criteria

Indian Institute of Technology- IITs ranked in THE Asia University Rankings 2014
In 2013 only IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee were included in the top 100. In 2014 IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras also entered the Top 100 List but IIT Bombay could not make it to top 100 in 2014.
Central University Ranked in THE Asia University Rankings 2014
2 Central Universities of India that is Aligarh Muslim University and Jawaharlal Nehru University also entered the Top 100 League.
State Run Universities in THE Asia University Rankings 2014
2 State Universities that is Panjab University and Jadavpur University also made it to Top 100 Asia Universities. Panjab University also has a Ranking between 226-250 in the World Ranking 2013-14.

Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings are broadcasted by The British Magazine, Times Higher Education (THE) and gets its data from Thomson Reuters. QS World University Rankings are published by British Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) which is a British Company specializing in Education & Study Abroad.
Times Higher Education originally released its ranking with Quacquarelli Symonds QS known as Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings from 2004 to 2009 but eventually the partnership was ended and now both THE & QS publish their own rankings.
The Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU) is also known as Shanghai Rankings. It was founded and compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and have been broadcasted by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy since 2009.
