JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 will be available with the release of the exam notification. As per the NTA notification, JEE Paper pattern 2019 and structure will remain similar to that of the last year. However, from this year onward, JEE Main will be held in computer based mode only. It is advisable for candidates to be familiar with the JEE Main exam pattern, so that they understand the structure of the question papers, marking scheme, total number of questions etc. JEE question paper pattern for both BE/BTech and BArch/BPlanning programmes i.e. JEE Main Paper 1 and JEE Main Paper 2 will vary from each other.
As per JEE Main exam pattern 2019, in Paper 1, there will be 90 questions. For every correct answer, 4 marks will be added and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. In JEE Main Paper 2, there will be 82 questions. According to JEE exam pattern, this paper will contain both objective and drawing aptitude questions. JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 - Mode of Conduct
Since last year, JEE Main exam was conducted by CBSE and it was held in both paper based mode and computer based mode. However, from this year, JEE Main 2019 will be held in computer based mode only. JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 (Paper 1)
Details regarding the JEE exam pattern for paper 1 was announced much before. As per the JEE Main Paper 1 exam pattern, the test will be held as follows -
- Test will be held in a computer based mode only
- The complete duration of JEE Main Paper 1 is 3 hours
- There will be Multiple Choice Questions only, based on topics such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
- There will be a total of 90 questions
- For each question, candidates will be given 4 options
- The total marks are 360. For each correct answer, 4 marks will be allotted while -1 for wrong attempts
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 (Paper 2)
As mentioned earlier, complete details for JEE Main paper 2 pattern will be announced soon. However, candidates can check the points given below to know about the JEE Main exam pattern of paper 2 as per previous year structure -
- The exam duration is 3 hours
- There will be 82 questions in total, divided among Mathematics, Drawing and Aptitude
- Except for the drawing part, Mathematics and Aptitude questions will be objective type
- Every correct answer will be awarded 4 marks while 1 mark will be deducted for wrong answers
JEE Exam Pattern 2019 - Language of the test
The entrance test will be held in a computer based mode across all the test cities, in India and abroad. The language of the test will be English and Hindi only. However, in JEE Main exam centres located in Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will have JEE Main question papers in Hindi, English and Gujarati.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2019 - Marking Scheme
Applicants will have to face the negative marking scheme in the JEE Main Exam 1 and 2 Both. Each question in both the exams (Paper 1 and Paper 2) will consist of 4 marks each except the drawing question in paper 2. There will be a deduction of 1 mark from the total if any question is answered incorrectly.
- Answered Correctly: Applicants will be awarded 4 Marks for each of the correct answers.
- Answered Incorrectly: There will be a deduction of 1 marks from the total score if applicants have answered incorrectly.
- Unanswered Question: Applicants will be awarded 0 marks for each of the unanswered questions.
