- Candidates should be within the 20-percentile of their respective Class 12 boards OR should have 75%(375) [GEN, OBC-NCL] or 70%(370) [SC, ST, PwD] aggregate marks, irrespective of whether they completed Class 12 in 2016 or 2017
- If a candidate passes Class 12 in 2016 but writes one or a few subjects in 2017 for improvement or any other reason, then top 20 percentile cut-off for 2016 will be considered. However, if a candidate writes all the subjects in 2017, the best of the two performances will be considered.
Note: The lowest of the four cut-offs (viz., GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST) is used for PwD.

Eligibility Criterion for admission to IITs and IIT ISM Dhanbad in 2015
To be eligible for admission to IITs and ISM, the candidates should satisfy either one of these two criteria:
- Candidates should be within the 20-percentile of their respective Class XII boards OR
- Must have secured Aggregate 75% [GEN, OBC-NCL] or 70% [SC, ST, PwD] marks, irrespective of whether they completed Class XII in 2014 or 2015.
For computing cut-offs for (i), considered only those candidates whose result status is 'P' [=pass] and have physics, chemistry, mathematics and at least one language. Note: The lowest of the four cut-offs (viz., GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST) is used for PwD.
