There are in total 100 JoSSA Participating Institutes and the seats offered by them are around 34,638 The seat matrix for different category of the participating institutions of the joint counselling process for the academic session 2018 will soon be released. Seat matrix for JEE 2018 Counselling gives the candidate a glimpse into the Total Number of Seats for JoSAA 2018 Counselling in various participating institutes, including Indian School of Mines, Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology, National Institute of Technology and Government funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs).
Moreover, the list does not feature seat intake of few institutions like IIT Goa, IIT Chhattisgarh and NIT Andhra Pradesh out of the total 33365 seats distributed among the participating institutes.

A Brief Analysis for General Category Candidates
- IIT’s: IIT Kharagpur has 1341 seats which for which it tops the rank list of institutes offering the maximum number of seats amongst IITs. IIT BHU has 1090 seat intake while IIT Roorkee has an intake of 1030. On the whole, for the academic session 2018, IITs are offering a total of 4944 seats under the General Category for the engineering programmes.
- NIT’s: To offer admission to undergraduate engineering programmes under various branches in 30 NITs are participating in JoSAA counselling. Total seat intake availability with NIT’s is 17390. NIT Raipur has 955 seats which make it rank Top in the list to offer the maximum number of seats among. MANIT Bhopal has 937 seat intake, and NIT Rourkela has an intake of 900. On the whole, for the academic session 2018, NIT’s are offering a total of 8548 seats under the General Category.
- IIIT’s: Out of the total 2228 seats offered by all 18 IIITs 1084 seats have been reserved for candidates who belong to General Category.
- Other GFTI’s: On the other hand GFTI’s have as many as 3741 engineering UG seats, out of which 2156 are reserved for the Open Category.
