Punjab MBBS/ BDS Counselling 2017 will be conducted online and will start from 17 July 2017 which will end on 25 August 2017. Punjab MBBS/ BDS Counselling will be done to fill the 85% seats in Government Medical & Dental Colleges and all seats in participating private medical colleges located in the state of Punjab. The candidates would be able to fill the counselling form in which they would have to give their preference, of course, college, category, quota during the online counselling. - All the candidates who were absent on the document verification dates i.e. 14 to 17 July 2017 dates can appear before the Authorities for their verification of documents and check of eligibility on 22 July 2017 at Auditorium, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot ( 10:00 AM).
- After the declaration of NEET 2017 Result, candidates have to fill Online Counselling Form to participate in online counselling for allotment of seats. Online Counselling details shall be decided by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, (BFUHS), Faridkot.
- The state government will be conducting a combined counselling for all Medical and Dental colleges, including Deemed Universities. Therefore, MBBS admission for the 2017-18 batch in Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) will be done through the Combined counselling.

Candidates who have already applied for State quota seats are required to apply afresh for surrendered All India quota seats. The Physical Counseling will be held at Auditorium, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot (9.00 am onwards) on NEET basis-2017 as under;

Sports Category Candidates
Punjab MBBS/ BDS 2017 qualified candidates of sports category must send the following documents to the University:
- Graduation Certificate: Issued by Director Sports, Punjab
- Detailed Marks Card of Class 10 & 12
- Punjab MBBS/ BDS 2017 result card
- Printout of the Online Application form
Qualifying Criteria for Candidates in Punjab MBBS/ BDS 2017 (Category wise)
To participate in the counselling process and fill their choices in the online counselling process a candidate must secure marks above Minimum Qualifying Marks in Punjab MBBS/ BDS Examination. The Category wise Minimum Qualifying Marks are as follow:

Online counselling - Application form
In order to participate in the counselling process, the candidates need to fill the common online admission form. Wherein, the candidates will have to give their preferences, of course, college, category, quota in chronological order. Seats will be allocated on the basis of:
- The merit of Punjab MBBS/ BDS 2017.
- The order of preference given by the candidate in the counselling application form.
All the particulars of the admission application form should be filled carefully and must be checked before submitting the application form. Candidates are advised to take a printout of the online admission application form after locking it. No alteration can be done in the form once it has been locked. University will entertain no request for changing the preference entered by the candidate.
Punjab MBBS/ BDS Counselling fee: To participate in the online counselling, the candidate has to pay Rs. 3000 as online counselling fee. Candidate must note that seat will not be allocated to the candidate who fails to pat the counselling fee. Counselling fee can be paid through:
- Bank challan form of Oriental Bank of Commerce
- HDFC Bank or Net Banking.
Punjab MBBS/ BDS Counselling Process
Online application form for online counselling will be available on the official website on the scheduled dates. Candidates who have qualified in Punjab MBBS/ BDS 2017 must fill the common online admission application form for MBBS and BDS.
The Process of Seat Allotment: The entire process of counselling will be executed by computers and the allotment of seats to the candidates will be done on the basis their Merit and Choice of the colleges. The Following steps are involved in the seat allotment.
- STEP 1: Computer will check the availability of the college as per the choices entered by the candidate.
- STEP 2: If Government quota seats are available in the preferred college then the seat will be allotted to the candidate.
There will be two online counselling and one physical counselling. If the candidate is satisfied with seat allocated to him/her during online counselling, he/she is not required to participate in the subsequent round of counsellings. If the candidate wants to change the allocated seat he/she have to participate in subsequent rounds of counselling.
Filling left over seats in Govt./ Private/ minority institutes: For all the leftover seats in Government / Private Medical/Dental Colleges, the counselling shall be held at GGS Medical College Faridkot.
Reserved category:
- For Qualified Sports Candidates: Printed copy of online admission application form along with Gradation Certificate issued by Director of Sports Department by 05th June, are to be submitted by sports candidates in order to claim reservation under Sports Quota.
- Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will be first considered for open merit (if vacant) then seats of Reserved Category will be allocated.
Process after seat Allotment
Once the seat has been allotted to a candidate he/she has to report at the allotted college for document verification and also to complete other admission formalities. The details of the process are as follow:
- Counselling Result: The Allotment of seats will be available on the official website.
- Allotment Slip/ Letter: Candidates can print their Allotment Letter/Slip by logging into their accounts, using the Login Id & Password provided.
- Reporting at College: Once the allotment has been done, the candidate has to report at the college. Mere allotment of the seat doesn’t mean that final admission has been done. Candidates need to complete other admission formalities in order to secure their admission to the allotted college.
- Document Verification: The candidates need to carry their allotment slip and original academic documents along with other certificates etc. supporting their reservation claims for verification purpose. Failure in doing so will result in cancellation of the admission.
- Fee Payment: After successful verification of documents candidates need to deposit requisite tuition fee in the University Bank account by the means of prescribed bank challan. Failure in doing so will result in automatic cancellation of the allotted Seat.
Schedule for Verification of Original Documents
Candidates have to report at GGS Medical College from 9 am onwards for checking of eligibility and verification of documents on the date mentioned against the College Name.
Institutes waiting for the MCI Approval
No seats will be allotted in the following colleges as they have not received permission from the Medical Council of India/ Government of India to admit student in their M.B.B.S or B.D.S courses for the academic session 2015-16. In case they receive permission from the concerned authorities later, allotment of seats will be done in subsequent rounds of Punjab MBBS/ BDS counselling.
