National Institute of Design offers B.Des./M.Des. i.e. Bachelor of Design and Master of Design in 20 domains. NID offers admission to the overseas candidates and there is a common application form for Indian and Overseas Candidates.Overseas students include applicants from SAARC countries/African countries/Cambodia/ Laos/Myanmar/Vietnam and other foreign countries.
Eligibility, Courses and Seat Distribution for NID Overseas Students
15% seats are reserved for overseas students in both B.Des. and M.Des. courses. Admission schedule for 2018-19, the session has been announced and the application process has started from 25 September and the last date to apply is 31 October 2017.
Upper age limit of the candidates should be 20 years as on 30 June 2018. Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission
Who is classified as NID Overseas Candidates
Overseas students include applicants from the following countries. Basically, it includes students from all across the globe.
- SAARC countries
- African countries
- Cambodia/ Laos/Myanmar/Vietnam
- Other Foreign countries.
NID Selection Process for Overseas Candidates
- Candidates applying in the Overseas category (supernumerary seats) applying for either B.Des or M. Des. will have to appear for their DAT only in Ahmedabad, immediately followed by Stage 2 and Stage 3 exams.
- The detailed schedule will be intimated to the candidates.
- The Hall tickets will be available on the admissions website as per schedule announced.
- Successful candidates will be offered admission to NID based on the final merit list of Overseas Category, prepared after completion of all the 3 stages of the admission process.
- To accept the offer of admission to NID, the overseas candidates will have to appear in person at the respective campus of NID, during registration as per the schedule.
List of documents for NID Overseas Admission
- A self-attested copy of the relevant pages of the passport & visa containing details of the applicant.
- Attested copies of mark sheets of equivalent grades/ levels of SSC and HSC (under 10 + 2 years). Those who are studying presently in HSC must submit bonafide certificate from school/ college. Attestation should be done by the School/College Principal/Vice Principal.
- In case Degree/Certificate has been obtained from some University/Board of any other country then an equivalence certificate must be obtained from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, prior to admission.

Fee submission: Selected candidates have to submit their tuition fee for the entire academic year by the Bank Draft in favour of the National Institute of Design payable at Ahmedabad) along with their letters of acceptance as well as the rules and regulations duly endorsed by individual candidate and by his/ her parent or guardian
Hostel facility is only at PG campus Gandhinagar for courses offered at Gandhinagar. There is no hostel facility for PG students at Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
