NEET: Reservation of seats in Government Medical Colleges under 15% all India Quota makes the student eligible to take admission in Government Medical & Dental College across various states except Jammu & Kashmir. The states fill up 15% of the Government Medical & Dental Seats on the basis of NEET Counselling and rest 85% seats on the basis of State Level Counselling based on NEET Score. The seat matrix of NEET counselling 2019 for MBBS and BDS seats has been released by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The link to check the seat matrix has been provided on this page. As per the data of MCC, a total of 4393 seats will be filled in 15% All India Quota scheme.

No medical college or state government is allowed to conduct a separate medical entrance for admission to Government or Private Medical Colleges in the country except for Institutes established by the Act of Parliament that is AIIMS and JIPMER.

What is 15% All India Quota - All government medical and dental colleges in India have 15% seats reserved as all India Quota and these are filled on the basis of NEET counselling. Only those students who have qualified for the 15% quota (as written on the NEET Score Card) are eligible for these seats. This 15% quota is not applicable to Jammu and Kashmir.

Reservation of Seats in Government Medical Colleges under 15% all India Quota
- 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates,
- 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates,
- OBC- 27% seats are reserved for non-creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Educational Institutions only as per Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 10.04.2008.
- Reservation would be applicable to the caste mentioned in the Central list of OBC.
- Thus, the candidates falling in this list may mention OBC in the Category Column in the application form.
- Candidates from the creamy layer and do not come under Central List of OBC are advised to mention their category as General.
- Physically Handicapped Candidates- 3% seats are reserved on horizontal basis for Physically Handicapped candidates (only for locomotory disabilities of lower limbs between 50% to 70%, provided that in case any seat in this 3% quota remains unfilled on account of unavailability of candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% then any such unfilled seat in this 3% quota shall be filled up by persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50% before they are included in the seats of respective category) in 15% All India UG quota seat. - Candidates who considered themselves eligible for this category are advised to ensure their eligibility by getting themselves examined at any Government Medical College/District Hospital/Government Hospital.
