About KCET

KCET 2018 (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority for admission in Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Naturopathy & Yoga, Unani, Homoeopathy, Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Farm Science courses in Government / University / Private Aided / Private UnaAided Professional Educational Institutions in Karnataka. Karnataka Examination Authority has released KCET Counselling Result for Round 2 online. Every candidate is required to enter their CET number to check the result. Candidates can go through the details related to the KCET 2018, Category-wise fee structure, option entry etc on this page. KCET result is also available for the candidates who registered themselves for the entrance exam held on 18 and 19 April 2018.

Courses for Admission through KCET

The admission in MBBS and BDS will be done on the basis of NEET scores. However, the admission to Architecture course will be done based on NATA scores. The courses offered through Karnataka Common Admission Test (KCET) are given below:

KCET Eligibility criteria

Domicile- Only students from Karnataka and wards of  Jammu & Kashmir migrants are eligible for appearing in KCET 2018.

Age Limit: The candidates seeking admission to Medical/ Dental/Ayurveda/Homeopathy/Unani/Naturopathy & Yoga courses should have completed the age of 17 as on 31 December 2018.

Candidates Claiming seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses 
The candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses and whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava, will have to undergo a Kannada language test, to establish their ability to speak, read and write Kannada

KCET Application form and Admit Card

The application process for KCET started from 1 February 2018. The candidates interested in seeking admission in various Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture courses in Karnataka have to fill the forms before the due date. Candidates who have appeared for the exam and are waiting for their result can now click on the KCET result link and edit their marks scored in class 12 (CBSE, CISCE or any other board) in their filled KCET application form. 

  • KCET Application Process is filled in two phases. In the first phase, candidates can fill the details and can edit the data any number of times and also can the draft printouts before selecting the declaration. 
  • In the Second Phase, the candidates have to select the declaration after confirming themselves that there are no changes to be incorporated or all the entries made by them in the online application are correct.

Submission of Application Form

Candidates are advised to check the details of the application form before the final submission because once the application has been processed then the candidates will not be able to do any changes. Candidates are also advised to keep at least three printouts of the application form with them for future reference. The candidates must retain the following documents for future Correspondence:

  • Three printouts of the finally submitted Application Form.
  • Proof of payment of the fee.
  • 2-3 copies of identical Photograph that scanned and uploaded on the Online Application.

KCET 2018 Admit Card

KCET Admit Card is available from 6 April 2018. The candidates who have filled and submitted the application form can download the admit card by following the given link. Students can download the admit card by entering their user id and password.

Admit card is a very important document and students cannot appear in the exam without a valid KCET admit card. Candidates need to know that the admit card will not be dispatched through the post, so no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

KCET Fees

The KCET fees for the General, OBC, SC/ST are given in the table below with amount payable for each category is given below. The candidates should ensure that they have selected the right category while filling the application form.

KCET FEE Structure 2018 (Category wise)

KCET Fee structure is released by KEA (Karnataka Education Authority). The fee structure includes the provisional fee structure for all Govt. as well as Private or Deemed colleges. It also includes the category wise seats available in Engineering colleges. Through the KCET fee structure the applicants will get to know about the fee required according to their respective categories and how many seats are available in their category for admission in Engineering colleges. KCET Practical Test Fee

Practical test os the candidates are taken for claiming seat under agriculturist quota. Practical Test Fee has to be paid at the respective Practical Test Centre on the day of verification of documents in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Comptroller of the respective University.

KCET 2018 Selection Process

The selection criteria of KCET is different for each course. The procedure for selecting the candidates for admission are given below separately for the individual courses.

For B.Tech

  • Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of performance in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination.
  • The KCET Merit List 2018 for Engineering will be prepared by taking the marks in equal proportions of the qualifying exam and KCET 2018 Score.

For B. Arch

  • Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of performance in both Class 12 or Equivalent Qualifying Examination and NATA.
  • The KCET Merit List 2018 for Architecture will be prepared by taking the marks in equal proportions of the qualifying exam and NATA 2018 Score.
  • Students do not have to appear in Karnataka CET for admission into B.Arch courses.

Agriculturist Quota

The merit list will be prepared based on 25% marks each, secured in concerned combinations in second year PUC (PCMB) & CET and 50% marks secured in the Practical Test. In

In the case of B.V.Sc & AH merit will be prepared based on 50% of Marks secured in CET (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and 50% of marks scored in the practical test.

KCET Exam pattern

  • Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in KCET.
  • Marking Scheme: Each paper is of 70 minutes duration + additional 10 minutes for carefully entering the serial number of the question paper on the OMR answer sheet.
  • The candidate has to sign at the bottom of the OMR answer sheet in the space provided.
  • The answers on the OMR sheet should be marked using a blue or black ball point pen only.

Students appearing in Engineering Exam need not appear in Biology and similarly, students appearing KCET Medical Exam 2018 need not appear in Mathematics Exam.

  • Kannada language test shall be conducted for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates and will be of 50 marks.
  • The minimum passing marks for all Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates shall be 12 out of 50 marks in Kannada Language Examination.
  • The agricultural practical test on “Identification of Agriculture Related Specimens” will be held for claiming seats under agriculturist quota and will be of 200 marks.

KCET Question Papers

KCET previous years question papers are available on the official website of KCET from 2004-2015 for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The KCET answer keys are also available for all the question papers but the solution is not available. Students can practise from previous years questions papers to get an idea of the type of questions asked in the exam.

KCET Important details

KCET Exam will be conducted in 53 test centres in India. Candidates who have passed or are appearing for Qualifying Examination within Karnataka should write CET-2018' in a test centre assigned by the KEA within the district in which the candidate has studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard. The candidates claiming eligibility under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga clauses will have to appear for CET - 2018 in a test centre located only at BANGALORE.
