JEE Main 2018 is a gateway for admission in Thapar University B.Tech Programmes. Admissions to Thapar University for B.E./ B.Tech shall be made strictly on the basis of merit of the score in JEE Main 2018 and the admission to B.Tech Biotechnology will be exclusively on the basis of NEET Score.

Thapar University BTech Courses are offered in 3 categories and multiple streams. There are basically 3 courses of Bachelors of Technology:

• BE/BTech Bachelor's of Engineering - 4 Year Course
• Dual-Degree BE-MBA  - 5 Year Course
• IEP International Engineering Programme,(2-yrs at TU + 2-yrs at TCD) - 4 Year Course
  ("Contemporisation Program’ with Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Ireland. Students admitted to this course will have to study first 2 years at TU and remaining 2 years at TCD)

Direct Admission to Thapar University B.Tech

The first five toppers of the recognised Boards of India in the examinations held in 2018, will be offered direct admission to the first year of UG program, provided they have appeared in JEE Main 2018 but the entrance test score of such students shall not be required for admission.

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens possessing a good moral character.

Age: Candidates must have born on or after October 1, 1992 (5 years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates).

Eligibility Criteria for Thapar University BE/BTech, Dual Degree and IEP Programme

• Candidates must have passed their class 12 or equivalent examination with minimum aggregate of 60% Marks (55% for SC/ST/PH) in three subjects i.e. Physics Mathematics and any one from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject. OR Minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in a Diploma recognised by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3-year duration.
• Along with any one of the given two statements the candidates should also have minimum 20% Marks (15% for SC/ST) in their JEE Main Exam.
  
  OR
• Candidates must have passed their class 12 or equivalent examination with minimum aggregate of 80% Marks (75% for SC/ST/PH) in three subjects i.e. Physics Mathematics and any one from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject. 
• Along with this, the candidates should also have minimum 25% Marks (10% for SC/ST) in their JEE Main Exam. 

Eligibility Criteria for Thapar University B.Tech (Bio-Technology)

Candidates must have passed their class 12 or equivalent examination with minimum aggregate of 60% Marks (55% for SC/ST/PH) in three subjects i.e. Physics Mathematics and Biology. And the Candidates must have minimum 20% Aggregate Marks (15% for SC/ST) in NEET 2018.

OR

Candidates must have passed their class 12 or equivalent examination with minimum aggregate of 80% Marks (75% for SC/ST/PH) in three subjects i.e. Physics Mathematics and Biology. And the Candidates must have minimum 15% Aggregate Marks (10% for SC/ST) in NEET 2018.

Candidates can apply online for admission in BE/B.Tech courses in Thapar University. The application form filling has already begun and the last date for the submission of the Thapar University Application Form is 29 April 2018 for the BE/ BTech and 13 July for the BTech (Biotechnology). • STEP 1: Register on the official website of the Thapar University to get a unique 'username' and 'password.' 
• STEP 2: Login with your 'username' and 'password'. Fill the online form with all the required details like Personal Details, Academic Details, choose the preferences of the programmes, upload your recent photograph & signature, and click on to “SUBMIT”.
• STEP 3: Pay the Application Fee through Online Mode (Payment Gateway) or Offline Mode (Demand Draft). 
• STEP 4: After filling the online application form, take two printouts of the Application form.

Reservation of seats for BE/BTech Admissions 2018

• 50% of the seats (513 seats) are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located in the state of Punjab.
• 2% seats (10 seats) are reserved for outstanding sports persons belonging to Punjab.
• 50% of the seats (512 seats) are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located outside the state of Punjab.
• 15% over and above seats are reserved for the FN/NRI candidates. Such candidates are not required to appear in the Entrance Test.
