About JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced 2018 - The result of JEE Advanced 2018 has been declared on 10 June 2018. IIT Kanpur has released JEE Advanced result online and a link to access the same is provided here. To check IIT JEE Advanced result, candidates are required to enter their exam registration number, date of birth, mobile number and email address. Along with the result, JEE Advanced cut off scores and the final answer keys are also available. Test takers must make sure that they qualify the minimum JEE Advanced 2018 cut off score to get shortlisted for the counselling rounds. JEE advanced 2018 is a gateway for the candidates to secure their admissions into various IITs. The entrance test was held on 20 May 2018 across 573 cities. A total of 15,7496 and 15,5091 candidates appeared for JEE Advanced Paper 1 and 2 respectively. JoSAA counselling will start from 15 June 2018.  JEE Advanced 2018 Selection Process

The admission of a candidate is based on the performance performed in JEE Advanced 2018. Candidates who will perform well in the entrance exam will be able to get admission into various bachelor’s degree programs in IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM Dhanbad) along with other reputed engineering institutes. Candidates will get all the details related to JEE Advanced result and counselling.

JEE Advanced 2018 Result

Candidates will be selected for admissions on the basis of AIR (All India Ranks) which will be calculated on the basis of their JEE advanced 2018 scores. JEE advanced 2018 result has been declared on 10 June, Sunday. Candidates must score at least 10% in each subject and 35% in aggregate in order to be in the common merit list.

Here are some important points related to JEE advanced 2018 result:-

  • Category wise AIR will be available through the online portal after the results are declared
  • Candidates will be sent text messages to their registered mobile numbers
  • No rank cards will be sent to candidates individually
  • However, candidates must keep in their mind that qualifying in JEE advanced 2018 or filling up forms to participate in Joint seat allotment process do not guarantee a candidate to get admissions in IITs
  • The admission of the candidates will depend on the availability of seats during various rounds of seat allotment

The data states the total number of candidates who have appeared in JEE advanced exam. JEE Advanced Eligibility criteria

Only JEE Mains (Paper 1) qualified candidates will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced Exam 2018 if they have secured a rank lower than 2,24,000 in all categories. Listed below are the 5 eligibility criterions namely A, B, C, D and E which are to be satisfied by the candidate after which they can successfully register for the JEE Advance Exam to be conducted on 20 May 2018.

A. JEE Mains 2018 Rank - Top 2,24,000

Applicants must be in the top 2,24,000 students which include the students from all categories and must have scored positive marks in JEE Mains 2018. The category-wise distribution of the top 2,24,000 students with their reservation allowance is defined in the table given below. 3% reservation is given directly to the PwD candidates from each of the categories horizontally.

The total number of candidates can be slightly greater than 2,24,000 in the presence of “tied” ranks/ scores in any category.

B. Academic Qualifications

  • Candidate must have passed class 12 or equivalent in 2017 for the first time or he/she is going to appear in class 12 or equivalent examination 2018 for the first time is eligible to apply.
  • However, if the examination Board of Class 12 (or equivalent) declares the results for the academic year 2015-16 after June  2016, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their class XII exam in 2016 are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018, provided they meet the other eligibility criteria.
  • In case, the Examination Board of Class 12 (or equivalent) declared the results for the academic year 2015-16 before June 2016 but the result of a particular candidate was withheld, then the candidate will not be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.

C. Age Limit

  • Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered. All the applicants appearing in the exam must be born on or after the dates specified in the table below, only SC/ST and PwD candidates are given relaxation of 5 years.

D. Number of Attempts

  •  A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced 2018 a maximum of two times and that too, in consecutive years. Applicants who have taken JEE (Advanced) in 2017 can also attempt 2018 exam.

E. Earlier Admission at IITs and ISM

  • The candidate should NOT have been admitted OR even accepted the seat by paying seat acceptance fee at any of the IITs or ISM in the past.
  • The candidates whose admission at IITs or ISM was cancelled are also NOT eligible.
  • However, candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs in 2017 can appear in JEE Advanced 2018.

Submission of the Application Form

After filling up the application form, the candidates are suggested to submit the form in order to complete the application process. However, before the final submission of the form, it is prior responsibilities of the candidates to ensure that the details filled by them are correct in the form. Once the form gets submitted, the candidates should keep at least two printout copies of the application form with them for future reference.

JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card

Candidate can download JEE Advanced Admit Card from 14 to 20 May 2018. A print out of downloaded JEE Advanced Admit card should be produced at the time of the exam. Original Admit card will be issued to the candidates at the time of Paper 1 examination.

Candidates are advised to retain original admit card safely till all the formalities of admission are complete. Candidates have to follow the link given below to download the JEE Advanced 2018 Admit Card. The student has to verify the details on the admit card.

JEE Advanced Exam pattern

  • JEE Advanced 2018 shall have two papers each of 3 hours each of the question papers will consist of three separate parts in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 
  • The Question Paper will be in English or Hindi ( as per the choice of the student)
  • The exam will be completely in Computer-Based mode.
  • The question paper consists of three separate sections viz, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • The questions will be of objective (multiple choice) type
  • The questions are designed to test Comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.
  • In some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded negative marks.

Reservation of Seats in JEE Advanced 2018

Admission in BArch at IIT

Candidates who want to join B.Arch courses will have to appear in Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) which will be conducted in the month of June 2018. AAT is for admission into B.Arch. course available at IIT Kharagpur & IIT Roorkee.

Architecture Aptitude Test can be taken by only those candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2018 & JEE Advanced 2018. Architecture Aptitude Test Registration is done after the declaration of JEE Advanced result and students have to give their preference for appearing in Architecture Aptitude Test at the time of filling the application form.
