IITs have created Supernumerary Seats for Girls Students
The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has asked all IITs to get admission of more girls students and also ensure that every IIT campus has at least 14% female students in new batch from the academic year 2018. The directive given by HRD Ministry is a part of the plan to lower gender bias in IITs by increasing female representation to 20% by 2026. From the year 2018, the total number of seats in all IITs across the country will be 11,289 up from 10,988 to achieve a 14% share in seats for girls students.
- A total of 2076 girl students have qualified in JEE Advanced Exam
- 800 supernumerary seats have been created for girl students
- So there is a high chance that all the girls who have qualified for IITs will get a seat in IIT.
