NTSE Stage 2 Changes in Exam Pattern. In 2018, NTSE Stage 2 exam went under some changes in exam pattern and that has been given in this article. The decision has been taken by the review committee of NTSE Examination. The modification in the examination includes several papers, number of questions, areas to be tested, time for testing and the practice of negative marking etc. The complete details are given on this page.

NTSE is a scholarship exam conducted by NCERT. It is one of the prestigious scholarships in India which is conducted in two stages. The stage 1 has already been held and the answer keys have been released by the NCERT. However, the NTSE Stage 2 Exam is yet to be conducted. The candidates who have qualified the Stage 1 examination will only be allowed to appear in the Stage 2 examination. The NTSE Stage 2 examination is scheduled to be conducted on 14 February 2021 for NTSE 2020 and for 13 June 2021 for NTSE 2021.

NTSE Stage 2- Know the Changes in Exam Pattern

  • Takedown LCT Subject: Earlier, there were three subjects in the NTSE Stage 2 exam pattern which were MAT, LCT and SAT. But from 2018, the Language Test has been eliminated and there are only two subjects (MAT & SAT) left.
  • No Negative Marking: Earlier, the deduction of 1/3 of the marks as a negative marking was done for every wrong answer. But after the decision of the committee, it is decided that from now onwards, there would be no negative marking in both the NTSE papers i.e. MAT and SAT.
  • Changes in Time Duration: When there were three subjects, the test time duration of each subject was 90 minutes but as now it has only two subjects, the time duration now is 120 minutes each.
  • Modification in No. of Questions: Similarly, the number of questions has been divided as 100 each which were earlier divided into three sections. As after the elimination of LCT, the marks of this subject have been added to MAT.
  • Reporting Time: The candidates are supposed to report at the examination centre at 9:00 AM. Earlier, it was 8:00 AM.
  • Changes in Selection Criteria: The selection of the awardee will be made based on total marks scored in MAT and SAT-based on merit. The candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for the merit.
  • Changes in category percentage: The qualifying examination for the General category is 40% and for SC, ST and PH category is 32% in each paper
