NTSE Scholarship 2019 for Indian students studying abroad in Class 10 application has started. The complete details about the scholarship scheme, how to fill the application form and the pattern of the scholarship exam has been explained here.

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is one of the most prestigious exams in India and is conducted every year at two levels: Stage – I (State Level) and Stage –II (National Level), however, the students studying abroad are exempted from State Level Stage – I of NTS Examination as per the NTS Scheme. NTSE Scholarship program is a national-level scholarship program in India which is conducted to identify and recognise the students with high intellect and academic talent. 

The scheme is open to students of Indian nationality. Students studying in Class 10 are eligible to appear for the selection process. As it is organised by an official body NCERT. NTSE Scholarship Eligibility Criteria for Indian Nationals Studying Abroad

The candidates are required to check whether they meet the eligibility criteria or not before applying for the NTSE Scheme. The eligibility criteria for the NTSE Scholarship is given below:

  • Nationality: A candidate should be an Indian national. The NTSE Scholarship shall be paid to the candidates for pursuing studies in India only.
  • Qualifying Marks: The General category students need to secure 40% in each paper and SC/ST or PH category student need 32% in each paper.
  • The Reservation for the NTSE Scheme is categorised as follows
    • 15% for SC Category students
    • 7.5% for ST Category students
    • 27% for OBC
    • 3% for Physically Challenged students

Submission of NTSE Scholarship Stage -II Application Form

The candidates are advised to check the duly filled in application form before submission. It is a responsibility of a candidate to keep at least two copies of the Application Form for future reference. Candidates are required to send the application form along with a photocopy of the previous year mark sheet by post to the address given below

Selection Process for NTSE Scholarship 

The selection process for NTSE Scholarship for Indian students studying abroad is that they have to appear directly in stage 2 exam. The students have to appear in MAT and SAT exam which is of 100 marks each. For both MAT and SAT exam, the students will be given 2 hours. The result of the exam will be announced in July or August 2019. The scholarship is valid only if students choose to study in India. 

NTSE Scholarship Stage 2 Exam Pattern

The NTSE Stage- II Exam consist of 200 question carries one mark each in which 180 minutes allotted to the candidates. The Exam pattern for Stage- II with Paper, the number of question to be asked in each test and the time duration for each paper is given below:

The language test that was conducted earlier has been removed

Negative Marking: Earlier there was negative marking but now it has been removed so there is no negative marking for the NTSE Scholarship exam.

NTSE Scholarship Amount

The students are awarded about one thousand of the Scholarship for different stages of education. These students receive NTSE Scholarship from Class 11 till their PhD studies. It is merit-based scholarship and not a means based scholarship. The scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as given below. However, The scholarship will be provided to the students who are pursuing their studies in India thereafter.

  • Scholarship of Rs.1250 per month for Class 11 to 12
  • Scholarship of Rs.2000 per month for Undergraduates and Postgraduates
  • Scholarship Amount for PhD is fixed in accordance with UGC standards.
