MotaChashma- Please share your overall analysis of NEET 2018. Also, which section was the toughest of all?
Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari - Overall NEET UG 2018 was of average difficulty level. Chemistry and Biology were of the moderate level while Physics was lengthy due to more numerical calculations but easy.
MotaChashma- Can you elaborate the reasons why a section was the toughest?
Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari - Physics had more numerical calculations due to which students took a lot of time in solving the paper. Also, biology will decide the rank, because there were some questions in the Botany paper that were of a difficult level and will determine the intelligence level of the student.
MotaChashma- How Class 11th and 12th syllabuses were effective this year?
Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari- From the Class 11thsyllabus, there were 23 questions while 22 were from Syllabus of Class 12thin Physics.In Chemistry, 24 questions came from Class 11thsyllabus and 21 questions were from the Class 12thsyllabus.A total of 47 questions were from Class 11th syllabus and 43 questions were from Class 12thSyllabus.
MotaChashma- How different was the NEET 2018 from the previous year? Were there any differences in the sections?
Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari -This time, the paper came in 20 codes, while last year it came in 12 codes.
MotaChashma- Were there any glitch in NEET 2018? Did any student complain regarding any wrong question or answer?
Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari - In Biology 'P' code Question paper, the question number 102 was incorrect. It looked incomplete. In the same code, in question number 113, according to the NCERT, the word 'Appraisal' should have come in the question while ‘Approved’ was written in the paper. In Chemistry 'P' code, Question Number 62, all four options are correct. There is a possibility of getting bonus points. Similarly, in the same code, in question number 88, two of the options are correct.
NEET Paper Analysis by Allen – Sectional Analysis
As mentioned above, the difficulty level of NEET 2018 was moderate. The Physics paper was lengthy with long calculative questions while Biology and Chemistry were average. To know more about the difficulty level and structure of the various sections, read below –
Biology – According to Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari and other experts of Allen, the difficulty level of Biology was medium. Most of the questions in this section were from Botany i.e. 59 while only 31 questions were based on Zoology. A total of 57 questions were from NCERT only. Chemistry–In this section, an equal number of questions were distributed among the three major topics, which are Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. From the Class 12th syllabus, there were 21 questions while the Class 11th syllabus dominated with 24 questions. Out of the 45 questions, 7 were difficult while 22 questions were of medium level. Physics – There were many questions with numerical questions which consumed a lot of time of candidates. Here, there were 23 questions from the Class 11th syllabus and the rest 22 were from Class 12th syllabus. A total of 7 questions fall under the tough category while 19 were medium. NEET Cutoff 2018
Candidates who have appeared for the NEET 2018 must make sure that they obtain the minimum cutoff marks to pass the exam.
