JEE Main 2018 Computer Based Exam is conducted by CBSE for the admission in undergraduate engineering programmes in NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), participating State Government Institutions. JEE Main 2018 Computer Based Exam is scheduled to be conducted on 15 and 16 April 2018. Candidate gets the flexibility in choosing the exam date of his/her choice as per his/her convenience. Pen and Paper based exam get conducted for both the papers. Although, the computer-based exam only conducted for Paper 1 i.e. for B.E and BTech only. The conducting body has made sure that at every venue there is a buffer stock of computers available. The candidate will be duly compensated for the time lost in case such problem arises. Moreover, each and every second is recorded by the server so candidates need not worry about it.
Do candidates need to have very good knowledge about Computers?
All the appearing candidates are required to know that how a computer mouse is operated and nothing more than that.
Is it possible to review the answers?
- At any point in time during the computer-based exam, the candidates can review or
re-answer any question.
- There will be a panel on a Computer screen which will display all the questions in the different colour scheme to give the indication to the candidate that which all questions have not yet been answered and marked for review.
- A most important feature of the Computer-based exam is that during the exam, at any point of time the candidates can change the option of the answer.
- The candidates also have the option to mark any answer during the exam for review at the later stage.
One major advantage of Computer-based test over pen & paper based test
The answers for pen & paper-based tests (objective type) are marked on the OMR sheet which needs to be handled very carefully. In most of the cases the students have to mark the answers using a pen, and in such cases, the student does not have the flexibility to change the answers.
The advantage that the computer-based test has, in this case, is the flexibility to change the answer. If the candidate at any point while taking the JEE Main 2018 computer-based test feels the need to change the answer, he/she can do it very easily. In pen & paper based test the candidate cannot change the answer and hence can lose on scoring more marks.
Will the candidates be provided with the Rough Sheets?
- Candidates will be provided sheets/ papers for rough work and calculations.
Will I get the Question Paper?
Candidates will not be given any hard copy of question paper; rather the questions along with answer options will appear on the Computer Screen of the Computer allotted. But the question papers will be sent along with the options marked via mail on each and every candidate’s registered email id after the exam schedule is over.

- NOTE - In the cities of Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh, Qatar and Sharjah Paper – 1 will be conducted in both the modes, however, the candidates choosing the mode of Computer Based Examination for Paper-1 will appear for Examination only on 15 April 2018.
