Latest Update On IIT Fees
5 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur) and 1 NIT (Suratkal) have been sanctioned the interest-free loan of Rs 2066.73 Crore for supporting the infrastructure, academic facilities and Research work. The loan has been approved by the HEFA (Higher Education Financing Agency). "While Rs 1028.73 crore has been sanctioned for research and academic facilities, Rs 1,038 crore has been approved for other supporting infrastructure," a senior HRD ministry official said.
IIT Fees for Indian Candidates
The total fee consists of Tuition fee, caution deposit, Placement fee, hostel fee, mess fee, etc. The tuition fee is uniform across all IITs, and the course fee for B.Tech program in IITs from 2018-19 onwards is around Rs 2 Lac per annum for General and OBC category students. The SC/ ST/ PWD candidates will have to pay no fee, and the most economically backwards students from General and OBC category (whose family income is less than Rs 1 lakh per annum) will get 100% relaxation in the course fee. The other economically backwards students (whose family income is between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per year) will get a relaxation 2/3

Full Fee Waiver in IIT Fees to SC, ST, Differently Abled and EBC students
In the recent session at Rajya Sabha, there was a discussion in providing full fee waiver to SC, ST, EBCs and Differently-Abled students. In the case of Economically Backward Students (EBCs), the annual family income should be less than Rs. 5 Lakh per annum.
As of now, no fee is charged by IITs whose family income is less than Rs. 1 Lac per annum. Students with annual family income greater than 1 Lac and less than Rs. 5 Lac are given 2/3rd waiver in tuition fee. The discussion in Rajya Sabha is going on to give 100% fee waiver to this category as well.
More About IIT Fees Hike and Other Details
The fees in IIT was hiked from academic session 2018-19. General category students will need approximately Rs. 10 Lacs to complete four years of studies from IITs. The tuition fee for four years will amount to Rs. 8 Lacs and other expenses like hostel fee, mess charges, exam fee etc., will make the amount equal to Rs.10 Lacs

IIT Fee Hike
This year HRD ministry has stated that the government is spending approximately 6 lakh per year on each students studying in any IITs and thus they increased the fee.The government is of the view that the increase in the fee will help in building better IITs.
- In 2016: IIT Fee (Annual) hiked from Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 2 Lacs
- In 2013: IIT Fee (Annual) increased from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 90,000
Interest-Free Loan for the Fee
All the students will get access to an interest-free loan of an amount equal to the tuition fee under the Vidya Lakshmi Scheme. The students have to repay these loans after they pass out of the IITs.

IIT Fee for Dual Degree for 2018-19
IIT Fee Structure for the dual degree programme for the year 2018-19 has not been announced yet. As soon as the IIT Fee for the current year is released, the same will also be updated on this page. Meanwhile, the candidates are suggested to go through the last year course fee so that the candidates will get to know the estimated course fee for the year 2018-19.
The annual fee structure is the same for the B.Tech and Dual Degree Course. In the case of Dual Degree the fee will be paid for five years, and in the case of B.Tech, the fee has to be paid for four years. This article will be updated when the MHRD ministry will release any new decision or information.
Last Year's IIT Fee for Dual Degree
The course fee for IIT BHU for the B.Tech Program for the year 2016-17 for Indian and Foreign candidates. The candidates have to pay Rs. 1,05,950 for one semester apart from other one-time fee and the refundable deposit. Last year's annual fee for the dual degree program (B. IIT Fees for Foreign Candidates
Tuition Fee for SAARC Country students is the US $1000. Recently the MHRD ministry has decided to stop giving the subsidy to the foreign students who are studying in IITs, but they are still eligible to avail the scholarship through ICCR and institution funding programs. Autonomy in deciding fee for foreign students: Very few foreign students admission is done in IITs, and hence in August 2018 the IIT council has taken a decision that each IIT’s Board of Governors to decide on the fee for foreign students.
