Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) 2020 Registration open

Zonal Informatics Olympiad is conducted by Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS), Mumbai, every year across the country and abroad. From 2001-02 to 2013-14, the Olympiad was organized in collaboration with CBSE. The notification for ZIO 2020 has been released. However, it will be updated soon. As per the latest update, the registration for Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) has started on 25 August for the ZIO 2020 exam which is scheduled to be conducted on 10 November 2019. This is the first stage of the Informatics Olympiad where the students have to give the written aptitude test.

The candidates who qualify in the first stage examination (Zonal Informatics Olympiad) will appear in the second stage examination, will be eligible to appear for the second stage i.e.Indian National Olympiad in Informatics - INOI which will be based on programming skills.

 Zonal Computing Olympiad (ZCO) and Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) will be organized on the same day, so students can participate in either one of them.

Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) Dates 2020

• The students who qualify this exam will move to stage 2 will get a chance to participate in Indian National Olympiad in Informatics (INOI).
• About 200-250 students will qualify from ZIO 2020 to participate in the Indian National Olympiad in Informatics 2020 (INOI)

INOI involves programming in any one of three languages: C and C++.

• About 30 students are selected from INOI for a training camp, typically, held in May–June to select the Indian team for IOI.
• International Olympiad: Selected candidates from stage 2 will be called for intensive training for the final selection of the candidates for the International Olympiad.
• International Olympiad for Informatics (IOI) 2020 will be held in Singapore from 19 to 26 July 2020
  

The application process of Zonal Informatics Olympiad can be filled for an individual or for a group of students via bulk registration. The details of both are as mentioned below:

ZIO Online Application Process

• This time there will be online registration for Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) 2020 and the registrations have started on 25 August, and end on 1 November 2019.
• Each and every student has to fill out the online registration form.
• Exam Fees: Rs. 472 can be paid by Credit/Debit Card or by using Net Banking.

ZIO Bulk Registration

The ZIO Bulk Registration can also be done for 10 or more participants at the same time. The spreadsheet has to be filled for ZIO bulk registration and the spreadsheet along with a scanned copy has to be sent by  ico@iarcs.org.in. The registration fee is Rs 472 per student, inclusive of GST. This should be paid through a Demand Draft (composite for all candidates) in the name of Indian Association for Research in Computing Science, payable in Mumbai.

Admit Card: The candidates opting for bulk registration will be assigned username & password using which they can download their Admit Card for the examination. 

• The applicant will receive their User Name & Password on the given email id and Admit card can be downloaded using the same details after November 2019.

• The username and password will be sent to the email id provided while filling the bulk registration form.

Documents to be carried on the day of Examination

• A bonafide certificate with their photograph attested by the Principal of their school.

• Since Roll Numbers will not be allotted to candidates, they have to write their name, class, school’s name with address and centre name in the answer sheet and information sheet provided to them.
  

Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO 2020) Exam Pattern

The examination will be a written examination to test the aptitude of the students, their logical competence, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.

The first stage examination consisting of the Zonal Informatics Olympiad (ZIO) 2020 will be held on in January.
