About CBSE World No Tobacco Day Competition

  • The World No Tobacco Day, designated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) is observed every year on May 31 to highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use.Therefore, CBSE feels that schools have a major responsibility to highlight and raise awareness among their students, staff and the community about this deadly habit. So CBSE is organising various competitions on World No Tobacco Day for the school students
  • The board has strongly advised the schools to create awareness through the conduct of these competitions, using technology and on the spot competitions. The school will conduct all these competitions in school and will send the selected copies to CBSE.

Latest Update: World No Tobacco Day competitions 2016 Result is out. Candidates from class 6-12 who were allotted different theme according to their Classes and have appeared in this competition can check their Result.

Details
  • Each school must conduct the following competitions in their school and send the best 3 entries to the CBSE board.
  • For each Competition, the class wise eligibility will differ.

CBSE World No Tobacco Day Competition Reward

World No Tobacco Day by CBSE Rewards

  • The winners will be awarded a certificate of Merit and a citation.
  • Reports, along with photographs (captioned) may be sent for publication in the CBSE quarterly journal CENBOSEC
  • Result: Top 40 entries from each event will be selected by a panel of judges. The Result will be made available on the academic website of the Board.

 Application Process

The entries need to be submitted by individual school and individual applications from students are not accepted. Each school must conduct the following competitions in their school and send the best 2 entries to the CBSE board.

Rules: The information regarding the rules related to the individual categories are as mentioned below:

  • Poster designing
    • Convey a clear message.
    • Size: A4 Size Chart Paper
    • Time Limit: 2 hours
    • Eligibility: Classes 6-8
  • Your work should not include the following
    • Any inappropriate content
    • Abusive language
    • Bias against any community, occupation, religion or group of people
    • Cluttered with too many images and messages

  • Essay Writing
    • Supply a suitable title.
    • Time Limit: 1.5 hours for essay/story writing.
    • Word Limit: Only one entry per participant, with a word limit of 500-600 words
    • Language: English or Hindi
    • Eligibility: Classes 9-10
  • Your work should not include the following
    • Any abusive language
    • Plagiarism
    • Bias against any community, occupation, religion or group of people
    • Essay should be original.

  • Report (Team)
    • Supply a suitable title.
    • Time Limit: 3 hours to consolidate
    • Only one entry per team
    • Eligibility: Class 9-12 
    • Report based on examples from a range of media, how commercial activities promote this evil, giving reasons and ways to change perceptions about tobacco use among all age groups and communities- urban and non-urban
    • Report can be in Hindi or English Language and should be 800-1000 words
  • Your work should not include the following
    • Any inappropriate content
    • Abusive language
    • Bias against any community, occupation, religion or group of people

  • PowerPoint (Team)
    • Supply a suitable title.
    • 15-20 slides on the given theme
    • Only one entry per team
    • Eligibility: classes 9-12
    • Text in Hindi or English
    • Each entry must have a slide with the team members’ names.
  • Your work should not include the following
    • Any inappropriate content
    • Abusive language
    • Bias against any community, occupation, religion or group of people
    • Cluttered with too many images and messages
 Submission of Entries

The entries need to be submitted by the school and the details of the submission process are as follow. Only the top 3 entries of each competition are to be sent along with duly filled and attested ENTRY FORM including the following:
  • Essays & Posters: Typed or neatly handwritten Essay, Poster, as hard copies only. All entries in hard copy shall have the school stamp, the name of student/s and class/es clearly written behind the poster/right-hand corner of each page of essay/report.
  •  Powerpoint-  It should be sent in separate VCDs, duly labelled with the name of school and hard copy of the PPT 
  • Report - It should be sent with 2-3 photographs of interactions with the community, as hard copy only on or before May 15, 2016.
