About Women Scholarship for Peace
Women Scholarship for Peace: Global South 2016 is being organised by UN Office for Disarmament Affairs UNODA, along with the 26 such organisations who contributes to the disarmament and non-proliferation and development-related issues. UNODA will be providing financial support to the women from the global south to take part in the training camps and courses about peace and development along with the certification of completion from UPEACE (United Nations). The last date for the registrations will be August 31, 2016.
Women Scholarship for Peace, Global South aims to empower women with opportunities and their decision-making abilities at national and international levels on issues related to disarmament, non-proliferation and peace.

The Important dates of Women Scholarship for Peace are given below but the dates of the scholarship program in Latin America and The Caribbean will be released in 2017.

Training and course schedule of the Women Scholarship for Peace in Latin America and The Caribbean will be announced in 2017.
Shortlisted applicants for the Women Scholarship for peace will be given travel allowances from their residential country to Vienna, where they will learn about the key conceptual and practical aspects of disarmament, non-proliferation and development-related issues, such as:
- Weapons of mass destruction
- Conventional weapons
- Disarmament and development
- Gender and disarmament
- Peace and development-related technologies
- Induction courses about entities contributing to disarmament, non-proliferation and development, such as the IAEA, CTBTO, OPCW, etc.

Women Scholarship for Peace Reward
The certification of training from United Nations is itself an achievement however the Women Scholarship for Peace includes the following support to the women:
- The scholarship will be covering registration fee for the 2 months online course and 1 week in person training course.
- Travelling expenses in economy class from their country of residence to the venue of in-person training.
- Daily subsistence allowance for 1 week.
- Certification of Completion from the University of Peace which is UN Mandated.
- Voluntary Diploma to the eligible candidates who have passed the voluntary diploma carrying University credits.
Women Scholarship for Peace Application form and Process
Women Scholarship for Peace : Global South applications are to be filled and submitted 'ONLINE' only. There is no other mode for the application submission, Applicants have to follow the link given below to fill the application form.

- Applicants have to fill the online application form with their correct academic as well as personal details and click on submit.
- After clicking of the submission button applicants will receive the confirmation mail and further procedure will be sent to their Email IDs.
Note: Incomplete applications and applications received after August 31, 2016, will not be considered in any case.
Guidelines for Filling the Application Form
- The Application form has to be filled in one go (it cannot be saved) so the applicant should keep their passport number and expiry date and CV handy.
- The Applicant also has to answer the following questions
- What main work achievement would you like to highlight? (500 words)
- Motivation - In which way do you believe your past experience could relate to peace, disarmament, non-proliferation or sustainable development? (500 words)
- How would you benefit from participating in the training courses? (500 words)
- In which way do you think you can contribute to peace, disarmament, non-proliferation or sustainable development in the future? (500 words)
- Statement of Purpose (2000 words)
Women Scholarship for Peace Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants for the Women Scholarship for Peace: South Global programme will be informed at the end of the September via their given contact details and it is mandatory for them to confirm their participation within two working days.
Preference of selection will be given to the applicants from Official Development Assistance recipient countries and territories, as defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development.
Details of Women Scholarship for PeaceTraining Programme
The training programme will include the following given events:
- 1-month introductory on-line training (about 20 hours)
- 1-week in-person training (about 40 hours)
- 1-month advanced on-line training (about 20 hours)
- Optional: 1 final examination essay to obtain university credits (about 40 hours)
- The on-line component includes: self-paced webinars with weekly sessions, reading material and exams, interaction with the instructor and the fellow students.
