About UNEP Young Champions of Earth
UNEP Young Champions of Earth 2017 is designed for those innovative minds that have strong ideas to protect or restore the environment. The environment of our planet is under stress and the evidence is everywhere. The main motive of this competition is to get best ideas from the world to make the environment much healthier. Every year, six innovative minds (one from each global region) will be selected for UNEP Young Champions of Earth 2017. These six winners will get a chance to implement their environmental ideas on a big scale through seed funding, intensive training, and tailored mentorship.

UNEP Young Champions of Earth Reward
The winner of UNEP Young Champions of Earth will get a chance to make their environmental idea life. Winners will receive seed funding, intensive training, and tailored mentorship. Here are the rewards mentioned below:
- Top 6 winners will be selected from $15,000 US Dollar in seed funding.
- Attendance at the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, December 2017, and the United Nations General Assembly in New York, September 2018 (all expenses paid).
- An introduction to over 100 environment ministers at the Champions of the Earth Gala Dinner.
- Publicity and recognition through online and global media.
- Access to high-profile mentors and customised training in communications, project planning, financial management, etc.
- Participation in an intensive, one-week entrepreneurship course in Europe in the first quarter of 2018 (All Expenses Paid).
UNEP Young Champions of Earth Application form and Process
Candidates have to fill the online application form for participating in this competition. Candidates can visit the official website of UNEP Young Champions of Earth to fill the application form or click on the link given below. The last date to apply online for the UNEP Young Champions Application Form before the last date of application submission i.e. 18 July 2017.
Steps to fill the UNEP Young Champions Application Form
STEP 1: Create ID & Password to open the UNEP Young Champions Application Form and note down the User ID and Password for all future references.
STEP 2: Candidates have to fill their personal details such as Name, DOB, Nationality, Contact Number and all the details as asked in the application form.
STEP 3: Candidates have to write a summary and a short biography about their big idea and all related questions there in. The filling of the application form is the lengthy process and thus the candidates can save the draft of the application form.
STEP 4: Candidates have to complete the declaration process before finalising the application form. Candidates are advised to stay updated with their EMail Id and note down the user ID and Password for all the future updates.
Submission of the UNEP Young Champions Application Form
The application form will be submitted through online mode only. Candidates can save or submit the application form before the last date of application submission i.e. 18 June 2017. No applications submitted after the deadline will be accepted. Candidates are advised to save draft while filling the application form as the process of filling the application form is quiet lengthy.
UNEP Young Champions of Earth Selection Process
There are mainly 3 stages of the selection for choosing the finalists of UNEP Young Champions 2017. 1.Preliminary, 2.Public and 3. Final Selection. A total of 30 Regional Finalists—five per world region—will be selected and notified by mid-July.
In the first stage of the selection process, the applications of all candidates will be judged by Regional Juries according to the following criteria:
- The 3 Ps – The positive impact your big idea could have on the environment (planet) and society (people), and its financial viability (prosperity).
- Demonstrated commitment – Bonus points may be awarded if you have already attempted to implement your big idea and can report on any trial runs, prototypes, or preliminary research results.
- The 3 Cs – Evidence that you are a curious, courageous, and colourful individual.
- The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - The potential contribution of your big idea to the attainment of the environment-related UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Sponsor – The strength of your sponsor’s recommendation.
