About UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest
UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest 2017 is for young photographers to visually participate in a contest through representing solutions to climate change in their communities. The deadline for the UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest is 30 September 2017.
- This photography contest will give a chance to a person to add their voice in the foremost conference on climate change, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s 23rd Conference of Parties (COP-23) that will be hosted in the historical city of Bonn, Germany, from 6th -17th November 2017.
- In this UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest20 winning images will be selected & displayed at COP-23 and social media and one image will be selected as the overall winning piece.

UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest Reward
The winner of UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest 2017 will be rewarded a fully funded trip to Bonn, Germany. At this place, the work of winner will be displayed to gain exposure on a global environmentally conscious platform.
- One image will be selected as the overall winning piece.
- 20 winning images will be selected and displayed at COP-23 and on social media.
The overall winner requires a visa, they will handle visa paperwork and fees for the quick processing of tickets. The visa fee is refundable; candidates must keep receipts for reimbursement. UN-Habitat will provide a supporting letter for the visa application.
UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest Application form and Process
To participate in this competition, candidates have to Post a picture with a caption on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter while tagging @UN-HABITAT and @UN-HabitatYouth using the hashtag #weareclimatechange.
Candidates are required to send a high-resolution image to advocacy@unhabitat.org, and cc faderr.johm@unhabitat.org together with their full name and contact information (email address, current address and phone number).
UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest Important Details
- The images have to be submitted in JPEG or TIFF in high resolution
- The climate change solutions should be explained clearly in the image and also include the neighbourhood, city and country of the image captured.
- Participating candidates are allowed to submit one entry into the competition
- The images containing nudity, personal attacks, and expletives will be disqualified from the contest.
- UN-Habitat will get the right to share their image on social media, display hard copies at COP-23 as well as on the UN-Habitat website competition gallery after the image submission.
UN Habitat Youth Photography Contest Selection Process
- The winners will be selected on the basis of composition, technical excellence, originality, responsiveness to the theme, and overall impact.
- 20 winning images will be selected and displayed at COP-23 and on social media.
- One image will be selected as the overall winning piece.
- The winners will be informed privately before UN-Habitat makes a formal announcement.
