The Global Spelling Bee Championship 2014 (TGSBC)

• Global Spelling Bee Championship is conducted by Educational Events of India.
• The Competition is designed by professionals and experts  from the  educational field who have know how and have experience to conduct such events.
• The aim of the Global Spelling Bee Championship is to create an awareness of the importance and necessity to spell and pronounce words correctly and also develop an enthusiasm among the students to read and learn about new words. It aims:
  • To improve and advance the skills associated with good spelling habits.
  • To enhance student development of poise and communication under pressure.
  • To expand student vocabulary and encourage accurate word usage and pronunciation
• This spell bee competition is a 5 level championship going from School to the Global level.
• The Spell bee words used are British English and With Oxford Dictionary as reference.

The Championship will select the best Global Spell Champ in the 6 different categories

• T Shirt/  Gift  Vouchers would also be given

• Student can register either individually or through school.

Registration Fees

Payment of Fees

• Registration Through School- The School will collect the necessary fees from the students.
  • School participating in good numbers (50+ students) will be paid Administration Charges of Rs 30 per Registered Participant for preliminary round only.
• Individual Registration - Payment of fees will  be through a Demand Draft  and it should be drawn in favor of " NICETIES" payable at Pune.

Selection Process for the Spell Bee Championship

Level 1: School / Open Preliminary Round of Spell Bee Championship

•  It would be a Written test of 50 Marks and would have following format of questions
  • Choose the Correct word

  • Find  the missing alphabet/s  of  the Word

  • Fill in the Blanks

  • Dictation

  • Words  used  for the written test  will be from  the  students  curriculum  i.e  textbooks {all subjects} / TGSNC Word Guide /Newspapers/  magazines  etc.   

Qualifying Marks in the Written Test: To qualify for the next round the student has to score minimum 80% of the total marks in the written test.

Level 2: District Level Round of Spell Bee Championship

This  round is only for those  participants  who cleared  the qualifying mark  criteria  of level 1 - School Rounds. 

• In level 2 there would be a written test followed by an Oral test round.
• The Written test will be of 50 Marks and would be in same format as the preliminary round but with a higher difficulty level.
•  The  words used  will be from TGSBC Word Book / Newspapers  / Magazines  Etc.

Qualifying Criteria for the Oral Round:  The student has to score minimum 90% of the total marks in the written test to be eligibile for the Oral Round.

• There  will be Oral Rounds  only for those  participants  who achieve  the Qualifying Criteria  of 90% at  the  written test.
• The qualified  participants  will then take the oral test  for their respective category separately to  decide the District  level  winners.
• Top 3 winners from each category will qualify for the State level round

 Level 3: State Level Round of Spell Bee Championship

 This  round if only for those  participants  who cleared  the qualifying mark  criteria  of level 2 District Rounds.

•  In level 3 there would be a written test followed by an Oral test for those who qualify the written test.
• There would be Written test of 50 Marks and would be in same format as the District  round but with a higher difficulty level.
• The  words used  will be from TGSBC Word Book / Newspapers  / Magazines  Etc.

Qualifying Criteria for the Oral Round: The student has to score minimum 90% of the total marks. 

• The students who qualify the written test, will have an oral test to decide the final category winner of the State Level Round.
•  Top 3 winners from each category will qualify for the National level round.

 Level 4: National Level Round of Spell Bee Championship

 This  round if only for those  participants  who cleared  the qualifying mark  criteria  of level 3  State Rounds.

• In level 4 there would be a first a written test followed by Oral Test for only those who qualify the written test.
• There would be a written test of 25 marks.
• The  written test format  will  same as the District rounds  but level of difficulty will  be higher.  
• The  words used  will be from TGSBC Word Book / Newspapers  / Magazines  Etc.

Qualifying Criteria for the Oral Round: The student should score minimum 90% of the total marks in the written test to qualify for the oral round.

• The students who qualify the written test will have an oral test to decide the final category winners of the National Level Round.
• Top 3 winners from each category will qualify for the Global Level Round.

 Level 5: Global level Round of Spell Bee Championship

Details and format will be announced  after the National Finals
