Team Specifications
- A team may consist of a maximum of 4 participants.
- It is preferable to have 1 electrical, 1 solar and 1 design expert in the team.
For a perfect design basic three abilities required are
- Design (LED housing, casing, components housing, overall looks, ease of assembly)
- Electronics (LEDs, circuits, battery, switches)
- Solar Design (maximum utilization of sun power)
Specifications of the Lamp
- The lamp should be fit for studying purposes
- The lamp should be able to illuminate minimum area of 1ft x1ft with 300 lumens of light
- The lamp should survive in dusty conditions and preferably water resistant
- The components used in the Lamp should be easily assembled
- Battery should last for more than 1500 chargingâ€discharging cycles
Step by Step Application process
- Step 1: Initial Progress: Till August 31, 2015; Participants are supposed to give a report on the ideas they are working on.
- Step 2: Mentorship Stage I: August 31, 2015 – October 10, 2015: Mentors will be allocated for the guidance of the participants.
- Step 3: Registration Deadline: September 10, 2015: Last Day of registration and submission of the project report for both national and international participants.

Competition has been divided into two Rounds
- ROUND 1: Comprises submission of design model compatible to 3D printer
- ROUND 2: Technically qualified teams (up to 20) will be Shortlisted and will be asked to get a working model.
ROUND 1 in detail
Designed model submission: 3â€page document consisting of
- A brief idea of the model with the special/key feature should be mentioned in the document
- Design of the casing (softcopy)
- Rough estimate of the battery life and charging time
ROUND 2 in detail
If the candidates get shortlisted after ROUND 1have to submit the working model of the same prototype if wish to participate in ROUND 2
Testing Conditions
- Switch evaluation will be done.
- It will be kept in dusty conditions to check the working and stability of the product.
- For some days during the fest it will be kept in the sunlight.
- It will be used in the night to check the backup time.
Judging Parameters
- Design approval of the given model for the given PS
- Technical aspects such as battery life, charging & discharging time, light source, solar
- Cost involved
- Is it easy to study during night in its light?
- Is the lamp easy to handle
- Ease of assembling
- Simplicity in the circuit
- Durability of the model
- Ease of circuit repairing
