Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial Exhibition 2015-16

• Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial (SIWB) is a non-profit making international academic exhibition which is sponsored by the Government of People’s Republic of China. 
• SIWB is organising a painting competition and the  purpose of the Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial is to promote diversified development  of watercolor, encouraging up to date trial, innovation and exploration of watercolor painting.
  • The Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial acts as a platform for the amelioration of the art of watercolor painting along with being a medium to promote communication of artists from different countries.
• SIWB is a 6 city national traveling exhibition and will continue for the period of one year.
• Artists above the age of 18 can send the picture of their water based media for selection and if selected the original work has to be sent to the organisers for the purpose of exhibition/sale.
• Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial does not charge any amount as Entry Fee or Handling Fee.
• All the paintings submitted to SIWB Exhibition should be for sale.

Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial Rewards

• Certificates of Awards and Medals will be issued to the prize-winners.
• Acceptance Certificates will be issued to all artists whose paintings were selected.
• All Winners are welcome to the ceremony and the host will provide dinner to all who attend the opening and award ceremony.
• A high quality full color album of Accepted Works will be given to everyone whose paintings will be selected.

Guidelines for submission of the Painting

• Only water based media should be used on a paper surface and unvarnished (Yupo is permitted), including transparent watercolor, gouache, acrylic, egg tempera and water based composite media. The water media must be at least 80%.
• Work must have been completed in last 3 years.
• If other media is to be used, that should be in conjunction with the water media.

• Size: The sides of the painting should be greater than 35cm (14 inches) but smaller than 110cm (43inches).
• Maximum number of entries: One artist can send a maximum of two entries for the SIWB Exhibition.

The specifications of digital photograph are as follow:

• Format: JPGE and RGB
• Size: Maximum 3.5 MB
• Resolution: Minimum1800 pixles on longer side
• Naming format: painting no._artist’s name_Country
• No Frame or MAT
• No digital enhancement allowed

Submission of the Entry

The entries should be submitted by either of the two modes before July 20, 2015, 2400 hours according to Beijing time and 09:30 pm as per Indian Time.

The Modes of Submission of Entries are:

• Email Entry: Digital Images of Entry form and Painting can be sent as attachment to siwb2015@126.com with artist’s full name and country as the Subject of the mail.
• CD Entry:  Digital Images of Entry form and Painting can be copied to a CD with the artist’s name and country mentioned at the CD cover. The entries can be posted to:

Shenzhen International Watercolor Biennial Selection Process

• Number of Entries to be selected: Depending upon the space of Exhibition, 180-200 paintings will be selected by a jury of internationally recognized watercolor masters from various countries.
• Exhibition Dates: The selected entries will be displayed in Shenzhen Art Museum from December 5, 2015 to January 10, 2016.
• The artists whose artwork is initially accepted will receive labels and instructions for delivery by email.
• There will be some fee and commission applicable in the process of framing, sales and transit of the artwork, which is to be paid by either the artist or the organisers depending upon the situation.
