Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students in Sri Lanka for Master's

• Government of Sri Lanka invites applications from Indian Nationals as a part of their Presidential Scholarship Program for Foreign Students.
• The scholarship will be offered to the candidates who are willing to go for Master’s degree from Sri Lanka in any of the following fields of studies:
  • MSc in Molecular Life Science
  • MSc in Environmental Management
  • MSc in Agriculture
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA).
• The duration of the Scholarship is 2 years and the applications for the scholarship are to be made through Sakshat Portal of Ministry of Human Resource Development, India
• MHRD will shortlist the candidates and recommend them to the Authorities in Sri Lanka, who will finalize the selection. The last date to apply for the Master's scholarship is October 10, 2015.

Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students Rewards

The Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students by Government of Sri Lanka will be offered to 4 candidates for a period of 2 years. The selected candidates will be eligible for the following benefits:

• Tuition & Registration Fee: All expenses related to the tuition and registration fee will be taken care by Government of Sri Lanka.
• Visa Fee: The students will have to pay no visa fee as Visa for Studies is free of cost.
• Allowance: Candidate will get monthly allowance of Rs. 30,000 along with One-off settlement allowance of Rs. 10,000.
• Air Fare: The candidate will get reimbursement of Economy class air fare to and fro from Sri Lanka.
• Accommodation: The candidate should meet the expenditure of food and accommodation from the monthly allowance and related University/Institution will help them in finding a suitable accommodation.
• Medical Facilities: Medical benefits will be provided free of cost to the candidates in Government Hospitals except Dental diseases.

Extension of the scholarship period: The candidates who are unable to complete their courses because of health related issues or unavoidable circumstance may be given extension for one year.

Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students Application Process

Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students will accept online applications for the scholarship. Indian candidates need to complete the application process through the Sakshat portal of Ministry of Human Resource Development. The details of the application process are as follow:

• Required Documents: While making online application for the scholarship, the candidates should upload the following documents to complete the application process:
  • Photograph: Format: .jpg/.jpeg, Size: Max. 530 kb, Dimensions: 200x230 pixels.
  • Signature: Format: .jpg/.jpeg, Size: Max. 530 kb, Dimensions: 160x140 pixels.
  • Birth Certificate
  • Official evidence of Name Change
  • Data page of Applicant’s Passport
  • Transcript of Academic Documents
  • Medical Certificate
  • Security vetting
  • 2 references provided by the most recent employer, former lecturer or academic supervisor.
  • Specifications of the Documents: The documents to be uploaded should have the following specifications:
    • Photograph: Format: .jpg/.jpeg, Size: Max. 530 kb, Dimensions: 200x230 pixels.
    • Signature: Format: .jpg/.jpeg, Size: Max. 530 kb, Dimensions: 160x140 pixels.
    • Other Documents: Format: .jpg/.jpeg/.pdf, Size: Max. 530 kb.
• Submission of the Application form: Completing the online application form successfully is sufficient to complete the application process. There is no need to send printed application form to the Ministry.

Presidential Scholarships for Foreign Students Selection Process                   

• The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the academic merit, interview and other related parameters.
• The decision of Selection Committee will be final and no further communication regarding the same will be entertained.
