PM Scholarship for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles 2019-20

PM Scholarship for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles is given by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The scholarship is given to encourage higher technical and professional education of dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles (CAPFs and AR) Personnel. The last date for application submission of PM Scholarship for Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles is 15 December 2019

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) was introduced under the guidance of National Defence Fund in 2006-07. A total of 2000 scholarship will be granted equally to both the girls and boys under Prime Minister Scholarship in each academic year. In addition to renewal cases of previous years. The Shortfall in fresh cases shall not be adjusted from girls/ boys if applicants (Boys/Girls) are selected less than 1000.

• Depending on the type of the course pursued by the applicant, the duration of the scholarship will be from one to five years.
• The Scholarship is admissible only for two children per family.

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for CAPFs and AR will grant a total of 2000 scholarships equally for both girls and boys for each academic year and in addition to the renewal of the scholarship for the previous years.

Similarly, total 500 scholarships will be given to the wards of State Police Personnel who are martyred during Terror/ Naxal attacks in equal number lo the Bols and Girls (i.e. 250 for boys and 250 for girls).

Letter from honourable Prime Minister

The candidates who will be selected under the New category will be given personal letters from honourable Prime Minister in an appropriate language.

PM Scholarship for CAPFs and AR Application form can be filled both Online and Offline by the candidates. The candidates must read all the necessary eligibility and other instructions to fill the PM Scholarship form.

The steps to fill the PM Scholarship Online Application Form are as follows

Login and Register: The candidates who wish to apply for PM Scholarship for CAPFs and AR need to login to the official website that is www.scholarship.gov.in. The candidates need to select the student log into National Scholarship Portal on the Home page and select Register. The candidates need to fill the necessary details and then click on submit.

The system will generate a temporary registration ID, and the same will be forwarded to the mobile number of the student via SMS. The candidate must click on proceed to fill the entire application form.

Details: After clicking on the proceed button, an online application form will open, students need to fill in the following details:

• Personal data: Registration details, Basic details and Bank details
• Academic details
• Scheme details
• Contact details

In the basic details, the candidate has to select the Parental/Guardian Occupation as “ CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES/ASSAM RIFLES”. Then the following particulars need to be filled:

1. Force
2. Rank of the Personnel
3. Category
4. Whether the person is Serving/Retired/Deceased
5. Name of the Personnel
6. Email
7. Force Number
8. PPO number

• The candidates need to select the “PRIME MINISTER’s SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME”

Documents to be uploaded with Fresh PM Scholarship Application

• Service Certificate: To be issued by the H.O.O in case of serving personnel
• Bonafide Certificate: To be issued by the Registrar/Dean/Principal of the College/Institution/University
• Cancelled Cheque: A Cancelled blank cheque and a copy of the passbook clearly showing the account number and name of the account holder
• Academic Certificates: All the candidates must upload the scanned copies of the following Minimum Entry Qualification certificates:
• Class 10 Certificate: Class 10 certificate for verifying the date of birth of the candidates.
• Marksheet of class 12/Diploma/Graduation as per MEQ
• PPO/discharge certificate/book (mandatory for category A to F)
• Dependent Certificate (mandatory for category A to F)
• Disability Certificate (mandatory for category B & D)
• Death Certificate (mandatory for category A & C)
• Certificate of Gallantry award (mandatory for category E)

Documents to be uploaded for the Renewal of PM Scholarship

• Service Certificate: To be issued by the H.O.O in case of serving personnel
• Bonafide certificate: To be issued by the Registrar/Dean/Principal of the College/ Institution / University
• Cancelled Cheque: A cancelled blank crossed cheque and copy of the passbook clearly showing the account number and name of the account holder
• Applicants are required to upload scanned copy of Mark Sheet of the previous academic year passed duly attested by the Principal of respective college/institute.

It is to be noted by all candidates: All the candidates apply for PM scholarship for CAPFs and AR must have an active and valid Bank Account in any Nationalized Bank which has Electronic Clearing System (ECS)/ Core Banking facility in order to transfer the scholarship amount directly to their account. In case of a minor account, the same will be converted into major account. Aadhar number linked with the bank account is mandatory from the Academic Year 2017-18 onwards

Submission of PM Scholarship

The candidates need to submit the Online Application Form after filling all the basic details and uploading all the required document Online for Application Verification on or before the due date. The candidates can also submit the offline application form. The PM Scholarship will not be given to a student if s/he does not submit the application form before the last date. 

After receiving all the PM application form the eligible candidates under New Category, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the order of preference and Percentage of marks obtained in MEQ as mentioned below:

Deceased wards of CAPF/AR personnel will be considered for the scholarship under Categories “A” to “F” as per their priority, even on the compassionate appointment of spouse/NOKs in CAPFs. There will be no rank restriction for the Categories A to E.

• The Wards of Assistant Commandant, holding Local Rank of CAPFs & AR who are not entailing the pay benefits of Assistant Commandant and drawing the Salary of Inspectors are eligible for granting PMS under category “F” & “G” also.
• The applicants irrespective of his /her marital status are eligible for PM Scholarship.
