About 9th National Science Film Festival
9th National Science Film Festival of India 2019 is organized by Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organisation, under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. Vigyan Prasar invites entries from Government/ Non-Government institutions, schools, colleges, individuals, production agencies, media centres, and students who are studying in Class 6 to 12 to be a part of the 9th National Science Film Festival of India 2019. The NSFFI 2019 is open for films on Science, Technology, innovation environment and health. A five-day science film screening and workshop on science films will be organized during the National Science Film Festival 2019 from 27 to 31 January 2019 at Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab. Candidates who want to participate in the 9th National Science Film Festival of India 2019 must send their entries on or before 31 October 2018.
Two members of the crew of each shortlisted film (national categories) and one member from the non-shortlisted film will be invited to attend the festival. AC II return train fare by the shortest route, lodging and food will be provided.

The winners of the Program will be offered the following prizes as per their category of participation. If the award is shared by 2 or more persons/organisations, the amount will be equally divided

9th National Science Film Festival Application form and Process
The registration for the National Science Film Festival and Competition 2019 is to be done online but the submission of film entries have to be done through offline mode. It is mandatory to send hard copy of the completely filled form with the required enclosures to Vigyan Prasar, Noida by post/ courier/ by hand. National Science Film Festival 2019 - Other Application Related Details
General Specification: The following conditions are to be kept in mind:
- Language: The film can be in Hindi, English or any language declared in the Constitution of India.
- If the film is not in Hindi/English, either it should be dubbed or subtitled in Hindi/English.
- Number of Entries: Participants can submit more than one entry for each category but they should fill separate entry form for each entry.

There are 2 standards according to which the films in various categories are to be submitted and details are as follow:

NSFFI Audio Quality Standards of the film
- The Audio should be reasonably continuous, smoothly mixed & edited and free of noise, clicks, hums and analogue distortion.
- There should be no background noise or peak distortion.
- If Mono sound is used, it should meet all the stereo standards related to levels, balance and phase.
- The sound must be carried in the A/B form by Stereo tracks.
NSFFI Video Quality Standards of the film
- The version of the film must meet all appropriate conditions for screening i.e. no timecode, no gaps in between.
- The Video should be well lit & sharp, free of excessive noise, grain and digital compression after effects.
- It should be stable and continuous i.e. no jumps, movements, a shift in level or position and consistent in colour rendition.
- There should be no horizontal or vertical aliasing i.e. jagged lines, field or frame rate fluctuations.
National Science Film Festival 2019 - Submission of the Film
The application form of National Science Film Festival and Competition has to be filled & submitted through online mode but the film entries have to be submitted only by post/ by courier/ by hand along with the following enclosures.
- Pen drive/DVD containing:
- Copy of the film
- Synopsis of the film (in MS Word doc.file)
- 5 still photographs of the film (jpeg format )
- One photograph of the director (jpeg format)
- Hard Copy of the synopsis of the film in English
- Original copy of the certificate from the Principal/Director/HOD (Only for Category C & D)

9th National Science Film Festival Selection Process
- Recommendation from Jury - The nomination jury will recommend the films for the National Science Film Festival and the National will select the films for awards.
- The announcement of Nomination: The names of the nominated films which will be screened in the festival will be announced in December.
Venue of the NSFFI 2019
- A five-day Science film screening and workshop will be organized during the 9th Science Film Festival from 27 January to 31 January 2019 at Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab.
Who Can attend the 9th National Science Film Festival of India (NSFFI)
- Two representatives for the crew of the nominated films will be invited and their AC II return train fare will be reimbursed. The lodging and boarding will be provided to the crew members.
- Two representatives from the films that are not nominated are invited to attend the National Science Film Festival. Lodging and boarding will be provided to those representatives.
- One representative from the crew of each nominated film of the non-competitive category will be invited to attend the film festival. The lodging and boarding will be provided subject to prior registration. In this case, no travel expenses will be reimbursed.
- In case, the award is shared by two or more persons or organizations then the amount will be equally divided between them.
