About National Library Internship Programme
National Library Internship Programme 2016 by the Ministry of Culture National Library, Government of India aims to select the 13 personnel for the internship programme in National Library, Kolkata. The last date to apply for the National Library Internship Programme is September 5, 2016.
A total of 13 candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the exam conducted by Ministry of culture National Library, for the 7 language division. If selected under National Library Internship Programme the Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Cataloging of books, serials, and other materials
- Classification
- Entry in MARC 21 format
- Barcode label preparations and other library works
The duration of the internship will be one year along with the monthly paid stipend of Rs 18,000 to the shortlisted candidates. To apply, the candidate must be at least 28 years of age as on September 30, 2016.

National Library Internship Programme Reward
All the selected 13 candidates will be provided with the Monthly stipend of Rs. 18, 000 for a year along with the certificate of the completion of the internship. The candidates will have to do the internship at the National Library, Kolkata.

STEP 1: Fill the application form in neat and clean handwriting.
STEP 2: Send the duly filled-in application form to the given below address. (Hard copy as well as soft copy). The application form for the internship has to be forwarded through the Head, Department of Library & Information Science of University;/College from where the candidate has completed his/her degree.

Note: The Applications that are without the recommendations of the Head, Department of Library & Information Science will be rejected by the Ministry of Culture National Library.
National Library Internship Programme Selection Process
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their marks secured in the examination. A minimum of 10 candidates will be called for each of the language and the decision of the selection committee in this regard will be final. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by the post of Email.
National Library Internship Exam - Guidelines
Each of the shortlisted applicants has to attempt a written examination in order to get shortlisted, Written Test will be a 2-hour examination of 150 Marks.
- There is no negative marking for the examination
- Applicants have to score more than the minimum qualifying marks i.e. 40% in each of the three groups of the examination.
- Candidates will get shortlisted on the basis of the cut-off marks decided by the Authority.
- In the case of the Tie in the marks applicant’s age will be used as the criteria.
