About Mahindra Spark the Rise Driverless Car Challenge

- Spark the Rise was launched in the year 2011.
What basically is the concept of driverless car?
Today, when our lives have become overly busy and dependent on automobiles like cars, there is also a significant change in our lives which is becoming stressful and full of fatigue. The stressful driver of today and added to it the condition of Indian roads have become a leading source of road accidents in the country.
With the innovation of auto pilots in plane, the Mahindra group of industries has sought out to introduce a similar concept with the most used automobile that is auto car.
It is this belief that has driven the setting up of Spark the Rise and now, the Rise Prize. The Rise Prize is a logical extension of the Mahindra brand philosophy/purpose of “challenging conventional thinking to drive positive change for all stakeholders”. Through the Rise Prize, Mahindra hopes to catalyze disruptive innovations from India.
The ‘challenge’ is to develop and demonstrate a driverless car working model that is :
• Built on the e2o or XUV5OO platform
• Suitable for Indian roads and driving conditions
• Affordable to build and operate
• Scalable to different platforms
• Clean, green and connected
