About LFI Students’ Design Competition 2016
- LFI Students’ Design Competition 2016 is in its 8th year and entries are being invited from architecture students and students from all spatial design, art and design courses all over India to participate in the design competition.
- The theme for Landscape Foundation India Students’ Design Competition 2016 for this year’s competition is Landscape – Change is the only constant.
- The Students are required to pay a registration fee of Rs.1000.The winner of the competition will get the cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and total prizes of worth 1 lakh 16 thousand will be given.
- The students need to complete the submission of their ideas on or before October 10, 2016, and the result of the competition will be declared on October 19, 2016.

LFI Students’ Design Competition 2016 Reward
On the basis of the entries received, up to 8 winners will be selected. Four of the selected winners will be rewarded with cash prize, while remaining four will get certificates. The details of the rewards are as follow:
- First Prize: Rs. 50,000
- Second Prize: Rs. 30,000
- Third Prize: Rs. 15,000
- Shriya Anand Award: Rs. 21,000
- Certificate: Jury Special Mention Certificates will be awarded to up to 4 entries.
- Publishing: The winning entries will be featured in LA, Journal of Landscape Architecture (LA46) December-February issue.
LFI Students’ Design Competition 2016 Application form and Process
The application need to be made offline and the process of application and submission of the entries is as follow:
- Application Form: The candidates are required to fill the offline application form and send it along with other required documents to complete the submission process.
- Registration Fee: The candidates willing to be a part of the competition are required to deposit a registration fee of Rs.1000 per candidate. The registration fee can be paid by either of the following methods:
- Demand Draft: A Demand Draft of Rs.1000 in favor of La, Journal of Landscape Architecture payable at New Delhi can be sent along with the application form.
- Direct Transfer: In the case of online transfer, students need to inform the organizers through email whenever the transfer is made along with payment details/copy of the transaction slip. The Registration fee of Rs. 1000 can be transferred directly to the account with details as mentioned below:

Note: Candidates are also required to mention the same details in the registration form as well.
- Design Specifications: The participants are supposed to create an idea which relates the setting with the thought of Landscape – Change is the only constant. Communicate the unique sense of experience and a sense of place it creates.
- Keywords: The sense of time, transition, permanence, evergreen, instant, ready-made, fast-growing, contextual, regional
Submission of Applications
The submission of the application needs to be done as per the following guidelines:
- Required Documents:
- Design sheet: At least 1(maximum 2) A1 size sheet with 594mm x 840mm dimensions and in vertical format.
- Concept note: Maximum 250 words, composed in a box of size A5 {148mm x 210mm, Vertical} on the top right corner of the first sheet.
- Numbering: Each sheet is to be numbered separately in the bottom right-hand corner with a recognizable title of the project.
- Images: The submission shall also include a CD/DVD or Pen Drive containing “.JPEG” files of each sheet in 300 dpi and 72 dpi resolution saved separately in two folders with concept note in “.DOC” format.
- In the case of Studio work: Any studio work submitted as an entry must be accompanied by a signed letter in the original by the overseeing faculty member confirming the authorship of the work. The letter should also contain the contact details of the faculty member.
- In the case of the Team submission, each candidate needs to fulfill the required conditions of the competition.

LFI Students’ Design Competition 2016 Selection Process
- Judging Panel: The entries submitted will be judged by a panel having the following judges
- Iftikhar Mulk Chishti Architect & Designer, New Delhi
- Saurabh Popli Landscape Architect, Bhopal
- Freddie Ribeiro Landscape Architect, New Delhi
- Result: The result of the competition will be announced October 19, 2016.
