About LAMP Fellowship 2021
LAMP Fellowship provides an opportunity for young Indians to be mentored by a Member of Parliament of India for a period of 11 months. The LAMP Fellows work full time with the assigned MP, from the beginning of the Monsoon session (Mid June) to the end of the Budget session (May) of Parliament. The fellows will be assigned an MP who is actively engaged in Parliament and can be from any house of the parliament and from any political party. The assigning of LAMP Fellows to the MPs will be done on a random basis; no consideration will be given to the LAMP Fellow's political leanings, educational background or ideology.
The candidates have to submit two essays as part of the application process, so if you are interested to apply then write the essay first and then start filling the application form. The Application form has to be filled in one go so check the form first and collect all the required information.
LAMP Fellowship is a full-time job for the fellows and not an internship and it is conducted by PRS Legislative Research. The fellows are provided with pre-placement training of 1 month. The fellows will have to stay in Delhi in the due course of their fellowship.

LAMP (Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament) Fellows will be based in Delhi during the LAMP Fellowship Period and will work closely with the assigned MP and help them by providing the extensive research support for their parliamentary work.
- A significant amount of the research will be Parliament related, such as inputs for bills, parliamentary Questions, policy discussions and committee meetings.
- LAMP Fellows are also required to provide background research for the conferences and media events MPs attend in their official capacity.
- They may also be given the work of visiting the constituency of the MP.
After the LAMP Fellowship, several fellows have pursued advanced degrees in institutions like ISB, IIMs, Yale University, Columbia University, Oxford, and LSE. Others have chosen to work in areas such as policy research, political consulting, public relations and the development sector. Some Fellows have continued to work with MPs.

The selection of the fellows will be very competitive and the final selection will be done after a personal interview. LAMP Fellows will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000 and an additional allowance of Rs. 3000 to cover other expenses such as local conveyance, telephone calls, internet charges etc.

Nationality: The LAMP Fellowship is only for Indian Citizens only.
Age: The age of the candidate needs to be less than 25 years that is born on or after 1 June 1994 Work experience is not an essential criterion to become a LAMP Fellow Academic Qualification: The candidate needs to have a Bachelor’s degree, candidates having higher education can also apply but having a higher education will not give them an upper hand while selection. The candidates who will finish their bachelor's degree by May 2021 are eligible for the fellowship.

LAMP Fellowship 2021 Reward
The selected fellows will be working directly with some of the active Member of Parliaments, LAMP fellows will provide research support to these MPs.
- Number of Fellows: 40
The candidates will get the following benefits:
- Duration of the LAMP Fellowship: 11 months.
- Monthly Stipend: Rs. 20,000 per month.
- Other allowance: Rs. 3000 to cover up other expenses related to the local conveyance, telephone calls, internet charges etc.
- Office Space: LAMP fellows will not be provided with a specific office space rather it will depend on the arrangement that the MP and LAMP Fellow arrive at and candidates are required to use their own computers or internet connections.
- Reporting to MP: The candidates are required to report to the MPs on a daily basis. This entails checking with them for any tasks that have been assigned, presenting the completed work, briefing the MP, suggesting any issues that the MP might want to raise, etc.
- Reporting to PRS: PRS will conduct weekly review meetings with all LAMP Fellows. This meeting will involve taking stock of the work that has been undertaken by the LAMP Fellows, their interactions with the MP and clarifying doubts. Each LAMP Fellow needs to strictly maintain a log of tasks undertaken.
- LAMP Fellows are given 2 leaves in a month.

LAMP Fellowship Application Process - Sections
LAMP Fellowship Application Form consists of 9 sections. They are as follows:

LAMP Fellowship 2021 Selection Process
The candidates interested in fellowship will undergo the following selection process and details are as follows:
- Shortlisting: The initial shortlisting of the candidates will be done on the basis of their application form and statement of intent and a short essay on a policy or legislative issue.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed telephonically or in person, shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide further references.
LAMP Fellowship Research Topics
LAMP Fellows research topics as diverse as defence, food security, environment, economics and foreign affairs. Research tasks may include

- Drafting Private Member Bills
- Media-related work including drafting press releases, preparing interventions for TV appearances

LAMP Fellows Training
- PRS conducts intensive training which is mandatory for the LAMP fellows to attend and through this, the fellows are familiarised with basic parliamentary and legal frameworks, parliamentary procedures, information sources and research tools.
- It is a 1-month intensive training
- PRS also conducts workshops on important topics where Fellows can interact with experts and policymakers. In past years, workshops were conducted on topics like Education, Health, Media Regulation and Public Finance.
