- After IMOTC, a team of 6 students will be finalized to represent India in International Mathematical Olympiad 2021
- INMO certificate of merit: Top 300 (class XI or below category)+ 60 (class XII category) from each region in IOQM will get a certificate, provided they have a minimum cut-off score of 5% of the total marks of the IOQM paper. But this is not a qualifying criterion for INMO.
Scholarship for INMO awardees who pursue BSc. or other courses in Mathematics
- The INMO awardees who successfully complete IMOTC and who pursue B.Sc. or other courses with Mathematics as one of the principal subjects of study, are eligible to receive a scholarship from NBHM, which is at present Rs. 4,000
(Rs. Four thousand only) per month. - The scholarship shall be continued throughout the period of their undergraduate studies (subject to satisfactory progress).
- INMO Awardees pursuing masters’ studies in Mathematics will receive an enhanced scholarship.
INMO awardees who pursue undergraduate studies in professional areas
Courses like engineering are eligible for a Novel Nurture Programme of NBHM.
- Under the program, students are encouraged to study advanced mathematics, along with their professional studies.
- Setting up contact with a suitable mathematical institution
- Opportunity to participate in summer workshops (covering expenses) etc.
- The students will receive a grant in the form of a cash prize for undertaking this programme,
- For the first year of the program, students will receive a cash award of Rs.18,500 and for the subsequent years a cash award of Rs. 20,000 will be given.

The selection procedure for INMO is based on merit and students are selected on the basis of marks obtained in the Olympiad.
- This is a 4-hour test and around 30-35 students are selected as INMO awardees and qualify for International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC)
INMO 2021 Syllabus
- Students who have qualified IOQM and are looking forward to participating in INMO should refer to pre-degree college mathematics (i.e. up to class 12).
Areas of mathematics that are covered under the syllabus of INMO are
- The syllabus for Mathematical Olympiad of integers, geometry, quadratic equations and expressions, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, the system of linear equations, permutations and combination, Factorisation of polynomial, inequalities, elementary combinatorics, probability theory and number theory, finite series and complex numbers and elementary graph theory.
- The syllabus does not include calculus and statistics.
Questions of Algebra, Combinatorics, Geometry and Number theory are asked preferably in RMO, INMO, and IMO, with the ascending difficulty level.
Reference books for INMO Preparation
The Indian National Maths Olympiad (INMO) is one of the most prestigious examinations at the college level. The problems asked in INMO are quite challenging. The students can guesstimate the difficulty level of the exam as they are expected to solve only about 6 problems over a period of 4 hours. But the students need not worry as we have a list of some reference books for the preparation of the International Maths Olympiad (INMO), which will help you provide a good insight into the concepts and clear your doubts in every concept.
Mathematical Circles by Dimitri Fomin
The first book on the list is "Mathematical Circles by Dimitri Fomin". This is an essential book for beginners as it gives a very good insight into some concepts. This is a beautiful book to begin your Olympiad Journey. Even if you have a fair bit of knowledge, it is recommended that you read this book.
An Excursion in Mathematics
The second book on the list is very famous among the students preparing for INMO which is "An Excursion in Mathematics." It is a comprehensive book for the Olympiads. This book has all the content that you will require. All INMO qualifiers receive this book as an award.
Problem-Solving Strategies by Arthur Engel
The third and the last book on the list is "Problem-Solving Strategies by Arthur Engel." This is a great book for the advanced reader. This book aims at giving an insight into techniques used to solve the problem. Every chapter is dedicated to one specific technique and contains some problems directly from the International Maths Olympiad. This book is a boon to the students preparing for INMO.
