About IACBG-Fellowship
- Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold Fellowship is a joint effort by India & Australia in the field of Agricultural/Medical Biotechnology Research.
- Young Indian Scholars who completed their Ph.D. not more than 5 years ago are eligible for the Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold Fellowships 2016-17.
- The scholars willing to apply for the IACBG-Fellowship should submit a research project on which he/she would like work in collaboration with an Australian Academic/Research Institution.
- The age of the applicant should be less than 35 years and he/she should have full-time employment in any Government or Private Research Institute/Organization.
- The shortlisted candidates will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,50,000 for maximum 2 years, Economy class Air-fare and one time Preparatory Allowance.
- The applications for the scholarship are to be made offline and the last date to complete the application process is October 31, 2016.

IACBG-Fellowship Reward
The information related to the Indo-Australian Career Boosting Gold Fellowships and the benefits of the Fellowship are as follow:
- Number of Awards: The fellowship will be awarded to 10 applicants.
- Duration of the Fellowship: The fellows selected for the Fellowship should spend at least 12 months with their host in Australia. The duration of IACBG-Fellowship is maximum 24 months.
- Monthly Associateship: The selected candidates will get a monthly associateship of Rs. 1,50,000.
- Preparatory Allowance: One time allowance of Rs. 20,000 will be offered to candidates for their pre departure expenses.
- Air Fare: Selected candidates will be provided with a return economy class air passage from Air India to join the laboratory in Australia.
- The selected candidate may continue receiving benefits and salary from the institution where they belong but Department of Biotechnology provides no assurance regarding the same.
IACBG-Fellowship Application form and Process
The applications for IACBG-Fellowship are to be made offline and the submission should be done in 11 copies. One of them should be single-sided original and unpinned while the rest 10 should be spiral bound copies. The details of the application process are as follow:

- Attachments: The applicant should send the following documents along with the application form to complete the application process:
- Detailed Project Proposal
- Curriculum Vitae and key collaborators
- Letter of approval from the proposed international host
- Letter of endorsement from Applicant’s home organization.
- References: Applicants are required to submit written reports from minimum 2 different referees regarding the feasibility of project, its significance, and value. They should also mention about applicant’s personal qualities and the international host institution’s potential contribution to the project.

IACBG-Fellowship Selection Process
The selection of the candidates will be done on the following selection criteria. The details related to the selection process and selection criteria are as mentioned below:
- Preferred Thematic Areas & Topics: The projects which are related to the following areas will be given preference:
- Agricultural Biotechnology
- Abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in crops
- Crop improvement for nutrition and biomaterials
- Germplasm sources for adaptability to climate extremes
- Disease resistance.
- Biofuels
- Medical Biotechnology
- Bio resourcing of novel antimicrobials from natural resources
- Developing novel & improved vaccines delivery platforms
- Diagnostics - affordable and rapid diagnostics for genetic and infectious diseases
- Drug discovery and delivery system
- Biomedical devices & implants for therapeutic applications.
- Stem cells/regenerative medicines.
- Selection Criteria: The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the selection criteria mentioned below:
- Feasibility of the Project
- Technical feasibility of the project and achievability of the goals stated in the project.
- The applicant's capabilities to carry out the proposed project.
- The appropriateness of undertaking the project with the nominated institution(s).
- Relevance and Value of the project
- Contribution to the future work of the applicant
- Advancement of knowledge and skills relevant to the field
- Potential for ongoing interchange of knowledge and skills between the applicant and collaborators in India or Australia
- Benefit to both India and Australia as a result of the project.
- Feasibility of the Project
- Agricultural Biotechnology
- The decision regarding the selection of the project will be taken by IACBG-Fellowships Secretariat in liaison with expert external parties from India and Australia.
