About IET Young Professionals Global Challenge
- The Global Challenge is conducted by the IET Young Professionals Community Committee (YPCC) in collaboration with international disaster relief charity RedR UK.
- RedR UK gives training to the aid workers in the skills they need to respond to disasters effectively .
- The Global Challenge is a contest that challenges student & young professional throughout the world to come up with a virtual solutions to the real problems.
- It comprise of the teams selected from all over the globe with a universal engineering challenge.

IET Young Professionals Global Challenge Reward
From Round Two the winning team, first, second and third runner up will be finalized. The Prize list is given below:
Winner
- 250 GBP for each team member
- An all-expenses-paid trip for the team to attend the prestigious Innovation Awards 2015 ceremony in London where they will see their winning solution elevator pitch shown and collect their awards
- A trophy and certificate for each team member
First runner-up
- 200 GBP for each team member
- A certificate for each team member
Second runner-up
- 150GBP for each team member
- A certificate for each team member
Third runner up
- 100GBP for each team member
- A certificate for each team member
Kindly Note: Distribution of awards will be done at the Grand Awards ceremony held in November 2015 in London.
- The IET will bear the hotel/accommodation and travel expenses for the winning team invited to participate in the award presentation ceremony
IET Young Professionals Global Challenge Application form and Process
Registration: Participants are required to register in teams comprising of 3 to 4 members and submit their first-round submission much before 20 March 2015.
Team Composition
Team Size: Not less than 3 team members but not more than 4 team members.
- Each team is required to appoint a Team Leader on whose mail id all the e-mails will be sent by the IET.
- Under no circumstances after the registration, modifications will be allowed in the composition of the team.
- Below is the list of legitimate reasons under which the team can be modified:
- pregnancy;
- accidents;
- family bereavement;
- Serious illness or hospitalisation.
Each team is required to submit the following:
Round 1: A Proposal
The proposal designed should convey in detail the solution for addressing the Challenge and highlight how it fits the purpose.The proposal should show a plan or design for a new, altered or improved solution for addressing the Problem which is not yet available in the market.
Submission of the Proposal: The Proposals are required to be sent to the e-mail id globalchallenge@theiet.org.
Round 2: Detailed Project Report
Only four teams will be shortlisted from round one who are required to submit their detailed solution, PowerPoint presentation and marketing elevator pitch.The shortlisted teams for Round 2 will be intimated via e-mails in early May 2015.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) should consist of the following:
- Proposal Summary
- Feasibility report
- Materials and cost implications
- Manufacturing
- Technical description
- Materials
- Implementation
- Marketing strategy
- Branding
- Marketing brief
- Powerpoint Presentation: A summary of the detailed project report in a PowerPoint presentation (ten slides maximum)
- Video of the Pitch: The features of the proposal can be highlighted in a filmed elevator pitch (three minutes maximum).
- The film will be uploaded to IET.tv for peer voting. 5% of the overall scoring will comprise of the votes casted by the audience/viewers.

IET Young Professionals Global Challenge Selection Process
The judging panel for IET Young Professionals Global Challenge includes:
- Two representatives from RedR
- One technical representative
- One marketing professional
- One representative from YPCC
Judging Criteria of the Entries:
All the entries will be judged in due accordance to the following criteria
For Round 1:
- Technical feasibility- A practical and effective technical solution
- Fit for purpose – a solution which can effectively address the Challenge
- Innovation- A new, altered or improved solution
- Quality of proposal – a well-organized and concise proposal

IET Young Professionals Global Challenge Round 1 Result: The shortlisted teams for Round 2 will be intimated via e-mails in early May 2015.
IET Young Professionals Global Challenge Final Result: In early October 2015 the final result will be emailed to the Team Leaders.
