About Hindi Scholarship Scheme

Hindi Scholarship Scheme is conducted for the students in West Bengal by Government of India in order to encourage the study of Hindi in Non-Hindi speaking states. Hindi Scholarship Scheme application process is open for students of West Bengal, who has passed in 2017 the Secondary/ Higher Secondary/ Degree (Pass of Honours) examination or their equivalent course from the recognized institution. There are total 239 scholarships which are subdivided in to further 3 categories i.e. For HS Students, Foer Graduate Students and For Post Graduation of Research Stage Students.

Hindi Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Details
  • Candidates must belong to a non-Hindi speaking state and be ordinarily residing in West Bengal.
  • The mother-tongue of the candidate should not be Hindi.
  • Those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in their first attempt are eligible for this scholarship.
  • Candidates must secure at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • This scholarship can be combined with other scholarships as an incentive to study Hindi.
  • Those candidates who are employed in a private Organization or a Government Organization whether full or part-time will not be eligible unless they are sponsored by the concerned State Government/ Union Territory Administration and provided they execute a Bond with such State Government /Union Territory Administration if so required by them (State/UT).

Not Eligible for Hindi Scholarship

  • Candidates who belong to non-Hindi speaking states but have been residing for any purpose in a Hindi speaking state will not be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Candidates who wish to pursue their studies through the correspondence course or who are preparing for an examination privately will not be eligible.
  • Candidates who are preparing for two courses simultaneously will not be eligible unless Hindi is one of the subjects of study in both those Courses.

Hindi Scholarship Scheme Application form and Process

Candidates have to fill the prescribed application form that can be obtained 7 days prior to the submission deadline. Candidates can get the application form either by hand from the Scholarship & Stipend Section of Education Directorate, West Bengal between 12 noon to 4 p.m. on any working day on production of the original Mark Sheet or by sending a self-addressed and stamped (Rs.5) envelope with attested photocopy of Mark Sheet to the below mentioned address.

Submission of Application Form


The completed application form has to be sent by 30 December 2017 between 12 noon and 4 p.m. on all working days to the address mentioned below. The application forms will not be accepted after 30 December 2017. Candidates of Voluntary Hindi Organizations and other candidates must submit the applications Through Parent Body/ School/College/ University with individual accounts details (Name of the bank, Account No, IFSC code, Mobile No.).

Hindi Scholarship Scheme Selection Process

The scholarships are limited in number and will be given strictly on the basis of merit as per the rules. Candidates have to fulfil all the eligibility criteria to get this opportunity. Candidates with wrong information in the application form will be rejected.
