• HEWS will provide a scholarship for admission in more than 200 top Govt. approved colleges in India, MHRD Govt of India and State government technical university/board). HEWS will also provide the scholarship for students in IITs and NITs who secure admission through JEE (Main and Advanced). The scholarship is not given for MBBS Course. HEWS scholarship is only available for the students of the Northeastern states that is Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
• HEWS will provide the scholarship for the courses like Polytechnic, D.Pharma, Engineering (B.Tech), Hotel Management, BBA/BCA, MBA, MCA, B.Pharma, M.Pharma, ANM/GNM, BDS.
• Higher Education Welfare Society (HEWS) will organize free Counselling and Admission under scholarship scheme for the benefit and welfare of all the students including all categories that are SC/ST/OBC/General/Minority.
• HEWS will provide 70% scholarship to the students in hand at the time of admission and the rest 30% college fee will be paid by the students themselves.

HEWS Scholarship 2016 Important dates

• HEWS offers 70% scholarship to the students during the time of admission
• HEWS provides Rs 3000-3500 hostel fee per month.
• Students get the benefit of rupees 1 to 3 lakhs depending upon the course and its duration.
• Following are the course wise rewards provided by HEWS after 70% scholarship:

HEWS application process has started and candidates can apply both Online and Offline. Both the processes are mentioned below:

Online

• Online application process has started and the last date to apply is May 31, 2016.
• Candidates can directly apply online in the official website of HEWS and fill in the complete details in the application form.
• Candidates must submit their Online application and print the acknowledge letter. The acknowledge contains the name of the candidates and their date of birth which will be used during the time of counselling.

Offline

• Offline Application process has started and the last date to apply is March 31, 2016.
• Candidates can download the application form from the website or can get the scholarship form from their schools/college or HEWS authorized book stalls in their city.
• Candidates can also get the photocopy of the form which is acceptable.
• Candidates must fill in the application form and send it to the HEWS office.

Submission of HEWS Scholarship Application Form

• Candidates must send their filled in offline application forms by registered/speed post/courier with two extra envelops, mentioning their own address with PIN code on both of them.
• Candidates must affix postal stamps of Rs.25 on both envelops so that the Counselling Board of HEWS can send them counselling letter and Admission letter to their address by post.
• Candidates can get a free scholarship application form as well as submit their application form at the HEWS office address below:

Counselling process

• Counselling Location: Counselling dates will be announced after the result of Class 10 and 12 are out. The expected date are expected from June 1, 2016. All the candidates from each state will have same three counselling location they are Guwahati, Silchar and Dibrugarh.
• Counselling letter: HEWS will send the counselling letter to the address given by them. Counselling date and address will be mentioned in the counselling letter. Candidates can also download the counselling letter from the website on or after May 10, 2016.

• During the counselling process, students will be given proper knowledge of HEWS participating colleges, courses, locations, hotel, facilities and placements.
• Counselling fee: The Counselling fee is Rs 300 which once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Admission Procedure

There are three steps involved in the Admission procedures. They are as follows:

• Step 1: Candidates must first apply either online or Offline to take admission in the different colleges.
• Step 2: Candidates who are applying for the scholarship will be sent counselling letter by HEWS counselling department. A total number of 10,000 candidates will be allotted for the admission in the various colleges. A list of participating colleges/universities will be provided to the candidates to choose any one of them of their own choice and get the allotment on the same day.
• Step 3: The candidates will be provided with an allotment letter after the counselling process gets over. The candidates must report to the college in person on the given date and time with the allotment letter of HEWS and required original documents.

Documents required at the Time of Admission at college:

• Allotment Letter of HEWS
• Migration Certificate (Original).
• Age Proof Certificate (Birth Certificate/Madhyamik/10th Admit Card).
• Marks sheet of last examination.
• Cast certificate (if applicable) from the competent authority.
• Character certificate in original from the Head of the Institution last attended (Original).
• 8 Photographs

Payment to confirm the admission: There is an Allotment fee is of Rs.500 which is not refundable under any circumstances.

It is to be noted that admission on scholarship will be done on an availability of reserved seats on the basis of first come –first serve. So students are suggested to take admission at earliest.
